Dear friends,
I have just read an article regarding the water/sanitation crisis in Gaza ( http://electronicintifada.net/v2/article11064.shtml ) caused by the fuel crisis resulting from the EMBARGO.
Without fuel, the electric power grid is down and the generators and drainage pumps cannot provide water.
This situation is threatening the survival of the people. All these oil producers, all these international agencies and great lectures on "Water for All" are unable or unwilling to (…)

LIBERTARIAN-SOCIALISM: AN IDEA WHOSE TIME HAS COME
24 April 2010Ever since the passage of the health care reform bill in America, many so-called “tea-partiers” and their supporters have been stoking the fear that this new law has somehow created a “slippery slope” that will culminate in the destruction of the Constitution, and the ascendancy of a “socialist” government.
For those unfamiliar with the terminology, the “slippery slope” argument is analogous to a snowball rolling down a mountainside: the more it rolls the more snow it collects and the (…) -
Armenian Genocide Day (24 April) & Australia-NZ Anzac Day (25 April) link ignored by complicit Australia
24 April 2010Armenian Genocide Day (24 April) and Australia and New Zealand (NZ) Anzac Day (25 April) are tightly linked by history - but this is resolutely ignored by a genocide-complicit, genocide-ignoring Apartheid Australia that is presently involved in 7 genocidal atrocities, the reality of which it also ignores.
April 24 is Armenian Genocide Day that remembers the 1.5 million Armenians murdered by the Turkish Government in 1915-1923.
April 25 remembers Australian and New Zealand war dead in (…) -
Video: Ralph Nader: “Why Aren’t Corporate Crimes Prosecuted?”
22 April 2010On April 20, 2010, author and political gadfly Ralph Nader gave a lecture at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), in Baltimore, MD. He spoke before a near capacity audience for over an hour. Mr. Nader said corporate crimes, as opposed to “street crimes,” go mostly under-reported by the establishment media in the U.S. and are “rarely prosecuted.” He detailed how corporate “misbehavior, negligence and crimes” cost thousands of deaths every year in the country from “preventable” (…)

UK Labour complicity in Genocide: why British voters must Dump Labour & Vote for the Liberal Democrats
22 April 2010The upcoming British Election is a three horse race between the pro-war, pro-Zionist, racist, genocidal, war criminal Labour Party, the pro-war, pro-Zionist, racist, genocidal, war criminal Tories and the significantly anti-war Liberal Democrats.
Ordinary workers had every reason in the past to vote Labour and to reject the Tories, the traditional class enemy. However Labour has utterly betrayed decent, anti-racist British Labour voters and has turned Britain into a nation of (…) -
Video: Ralph Nader: Corporation Loyalty is to the Dollar Sign!
21 April 2010On April 20, 2010, author and political gadfly Ralph Nader gave a lecture at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), in Baltimore, MD. He spoke before a near capacity audience for over an hour. Mr. Nader spotlighted corporate power and abuses in the U.S., and how AIG, the insurance titan, is the biggest recipient of “welfare—$182 Billion!” He showed how the workers in Western Europe have long had splendid social programs, like: “universal health insurance,” that are regularly denied (…)

Labor Fights Back at Goose Island (Book Review)
20 April 2010When I read Kari Lydersen’s first-rate “Revolt on Goose Island,” recently, it took me back to a talk, I’d attended, on May 1, 2008, at the National Labor College in Silver Spring, MD. One of the speakers at the spirited event, an “International Labor Day Celebration,” was Richard L. Trumka, now the head of the AFL-CIO. (1) Thinking back on Trumka’s cogent remarks, it was like he had a crystal ball in describing the ongoing baleful effects of globalization. It was as if he could see down the (…)

A Mad Tea Party
20 April 2010There are good reasons why the tea partyers are mad; however, their solutions are equally mad.
The movement is being joined by independents, republicans, and democrats who have come to believe their government has failed them and that neither political party is doing anything to fix it. This is true; however, all of us are being manipulated by the big corporations and the wealthy elite, who use their corporate-owned, mainstream media to mislead the people into acting against their own (…) -
Questions Q&A Won’t Ask: Awful Truth on Population, GHG Inaction, Biodiversity Crisis, Mass Extinctions
19 April 2010The taxpayer-funded Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), the Australian equivalent of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), has a TV program called Q&A (touted as "adventures in in democracy": ) in which the studio audience or viewers submit questions to a mostly right wing panel of half a dozen MPs, commentators or other public figures.
In my view, the Australian ABC in general (and like the BBC and other Mainstream Media organizations in the other "2-party" Western (…) -
Video: Poet Shelley Puhak’s “Stalin in Aruba”
17 April 2010On Saturday, April 17, 2010, poet Shelley Puhak read excerpts from her first book of poetry, “Stalin in Aruba.” The event took place at Baltimore’s celebrated Central Pratt Library, as part of the annual “CityLit Festival.” It was held in the Edgar Allan Poe room. Reviewer Julianna Baggott has labeled Ms. Puhak’s book “deeply political and deeply personal,” and as a “startling debut.”
