Cyclone Nargis in Burma :
Cyclone Nargis was suddenly monstrous - The Hurricane unexpectedly reached Category 4 strength ahead of landfall in Myanmar. After slowly churning through the Bay of Bengal without gaining significant strength – and without forecasters predicting that it would – Tropical Cyclone Nargis suddenly intensified into a monstrous Category 4 storm with winds of up to 132 mph. The last prediction had been for Nargis to make landfall as a Category 1 or Category 2 storm. (…)

‘Perhaps 60% of today’s oil price is pure speculation’
6 May 2008‘Perhaps 60% of today’s oil price is pure speculation’
By F. William Engdahl
Global Research, May 2, 2008
The price of crude oil today is not made according to any traditional relation of supply to demand. It’s controlled by an elaborate financial market system as well as by the four major Anglo-American oil companies. As much as 60% of today’s crude oil price is pure speculation driven by large trader banks and hedge funds. It has nothing to do with the convenient myths of Peak Oil. (…) -
“ Rich people, God Bless Us!”
5 May 2008“ Rich people, God Bless Us!” By David Glenn Cox
Here in the polarized states of America, with a little media magic, a draft dodger can become a war hero and a war hero a charlatan. After the New York Times exposé explains the media’s complicity in what has been going on, well thanks, but no thanks. Old news, Robert Novak and Judith Miller, Op Ed’s by Richard Perle and Pat Buchanon, the story then turns to inside baseball.
Just conspirators trying to unburden their chest and clear (…) -

4 May 2008"DID YOU KNOW PENGUINS CAN FLY?"
(Swans - April 21, 2008) "DID YOU KNOW PENGUINS CAN FLY?" asked a local resident recently. "Penguins do not fly," I retorted. "You are wrong," he replied. "How come? if I may ask... " "I saw it on TV," answered the strong-headed chap. To see something on TV — a computer simulation — was enough to make that man believe that penguins do fly. In September 2005, I had a conversation with another long-time Boonville resident who was adamant that we were (…) -
The collapse of the United States is accelerating : Oil in Euros vs. US dollars
4 May 2008In the last eight years implementing the plans for the Project for the New American Century (PNAC) designed "to promote American global leadership" has backfired.
To accomplish PNAC’s goals, all threats needed to be eliminated. From the onset, the United Sates earmarked two countries as mortal enemies: Venezuela and Iran. With Venezuela, it is well documented that the CIA attempted to overthrow the democratically elected government of Chavez. And with Iran, the United States continues to (…) -

Brave New World : ush signs Bill to Take all Newborns’ DNA
3 May 2008by Steve Watson
President Bush last week signed into law a bill which will see the federal government begin to screen the DNA of all newborn babies in the U.S. within six months, a move critics have described as the first step towards the establishment of a national DNA database.
Described as a "national contingency plan" the justification for the new law S. 1858, known as The Newborn Screening Saves Lives Act of 2007, is that it represents preparation for any sort of "public health (…)
