Letter From An American Tariq A. Al-Maeena, close_encounters@gawab.com Saturday, 29, July, 2006 In the wake of the continued war of terror that the Israelis are unleashing on the civilians in Lebanon, aided and abetted with fervor by US President George W. Bush and his administration, I received the following letter from an American mother:
Dear Mr. Al-Maeena,
I am deeply saddened by the violent attacks on civilians and the loss of lives of men, women and particularly children in (…)

The Facts tha the Iraqi Prime Minister didnot Tell the Congress,
29 July 2006We closely watched the speech of the Iraqi prime minister in the congress. Obviously he has chosen phrases and issues that please the congress and make them applause for some time. I am quite sure that most of the congressmen are not aware of the other parts of the scene in Iraq. Some of the gloomy scenes in Iraq are:
1- The Maliky government and his interior and defense ministers are hopeless and have no control of the violence in Iraq. In Baghdad alone an average of 100 people are killed (…) -
The US: Too late for empire
29 July 2006The US: Too late for empire
By Jonathan Schell, Jul 28, 2006
Anyone who wants to write about the constitutional crisis unfolding in the United States today faces a peculiar problem at the outset. There is a large body of observations that at one and the same time have been made too often and yet not often enough - too often because they have been repeated to the point of tedium for a minority ready to listen, but not often enough because the general public has yet to consider them (…) -

Lebanese resistance bares limits of U.S.-Israeli power
29 July 2006Lebanese resistance bares limits of U.S.-Israeli power
By Sara Flounders (internationalactioncenter, New-York)
July 27, 2006—Reports on July 22 that the Pentagon is rushing the delivery of precision-guided bombs to Israel for use in its criminal offensive in Lebanon confirm the real relationship in this U.S./Israeli war. The utter dependency of the Zionist state on the military equipment, massive funding, political and diplomatic support of the United States has never been clearer.
But (…) -

Iraq After Halliburton
by Pratap Chatterjee, Special to CorpWatch
July 12th, 2006
The Pentagon has taken an important first step by canceling the contract for Halliburton ’s military logistics contract in Iraq and putting it up for open bid. Halliburton has only itself to blame for shoddy managment, over-charging and thumbing its nose at military investigators. In our three alternative annual reports on Halliburton , CorpWatch has (…) -

"This is a big disaster for the Lebanese."
Once again the U.S. government has refused to condemn the Israeli invasion of Lebanon as the bombs fall on Beirut, killing scores of civilians.
In a moment of levity while driving to the border, Abu Talat turned to me and said, "You know what I miss?" I replied, "What do you miss sir?" He smiled and said, "Iraqi chai!" He then turns to our driver and asked him if he’d ever (…) -
