Home > A New Populist Economy
In theory all commerce, business and economy is based on the concept of trade. Wikipedia defines trade as “ the transfer of ownership of goods and services from one person or entity to another.” . As we can see, the concept of trade applies to both corporations as well as to individuals.
Prior to the Industrial Revolution, the production of goods has always involved the labor, or services, of people. There may be tools, or animal labor involved, but the person was essential. And even during the later industrialization, the services are individuals are still an essential part of the equation.
Now enter the Post-Industrial Age. Eisenhower has warned of the coming Military-Industrial Complex and the danger therein. Well, it’s quite easy to argue that it’s here now and I’m not even going to bother. The point is people are now expendable and war is the only economy. The need for labor in the old sense in gone.
It’s no surprise that in the mainland U.S. today, if you don’t already have a job then your services are not required anymore. You are not required anymore. It has always been the goal of corporations be rid itself of the need for labor, because why pay for anything not required?
Yet amidst all this turmoil, there has always been a way for the ever poorer population to improve their condition which has gone unnoticed. It’s right in the definition of trade: the transfer of services from one person to another. While trade currency and goods may not be available to the poor, their ability to directly trade services still remains. And it is not taxable by it’s very nature. Why? Because no taxing entity today can capitalize directly off your services. Can the I.R.S. come to your house and request housecleaning service? Not very likely. It would certainly be a different kind of I.R.S. than we have today.
So in conclusion, if the Populous wish to improve their condition regardless of the need for their labor in the established economy, like now, they need to do it for themselves. One way to accomplish this is to create their own economy based on services traded directly to one another.

Yes Mr. Danger, I believe we are there. I like the time share option. I put in an hour, in a larger community (and in the area of my expertise), and I get an hour of another’s help in an area that I need help. But we still have the larger problem of food. They have us trained to purchase cheap (and often worthless) "food" from the grocer. I can buy nuts from India and fruit which is out of season in my hemisphere (thanks to falsely cheap oil). Are there enough food producers, in my region, to feed us? Statistically probably not. We rely on factory farms for everything from meat to fruits and vegetables. And, more often than not, they are not local.
So a new populist economy (as you are bringing into our conciousness), coupled with victory gardens and, say, backyard chickens, - now we’re talking!
