    Since I began my vigil in Crawford, an average of 2.69 per day of our nation’s brave and noble troops died in Iraq for George’s cowardly and ignoble war. 2.69 families per day have been devastated for no reason except that: we have to continue killing American soldiers because so many have been killed already. My heart and soul go out to these families who had a loved one killed so needlessly and avoidably.

    The mother of a dead soldier stood in front of me and told me about her son. She told me his name was Casey. Casey Sheehan. She asked me to meet him. I agreed. I came to Crawford, TX to meet him.

    The flashbulbs are popping at a prodigious pace and typically soft fence straddlers are climbing off their pedestals and throwing their feathered hats into the mix which can only signify that an empty cause is about.     Representatives of a dozen faith-based communities and beliefs gathered this morning for an interfaith prayer service. Each took a moment to express in their own words why this war must end. "We should not declare God to be on our side, but we should be on God’s side," said one clergy member. Rev.

  • Two thousand gather for anti-war Texas hoe down and BBQ

    Over two thousand people made their way to Camp Casey yesterday for a huge hoe down deep in the heart of Texas. Full buses of supporters from Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and Austin unload and loaded throughout the day. The day included a massive volunteer mobilization to serve up a full "Texas-style BBQ," and to support all of the camp visitors in the 100+ heat. After Cindy Sheehan welcomed many of the buses, the main tent stage featured a day of music by artists from across Texas. (…)
