Radical cleric’s call for assassins

Edito Religions-Beliefs USA South/Latin America

A radical cleric has called on his flock to assassinate a South American President recently elected in a democratic election that did not conflict with exit polls.

Pat Robertson acting as the holy see for evangelical extremist associated with his 700 club is promoting the use of assassination to defend Americas oil supply in South America.

The Radical cleric has a long history of support for Bush and his neocon allies, his threat should not be taken as idle talk.

The world will be watching Bush to see how he deals with the Christian clerics incendiary remarks.

The Patriot Act allows for the holding of radical clerics who promote violence and it is being used.

The question is will the Bush administration show Robertson special treatment or will he show the world that no radical religious leaders exporting violence to other counties will be tolerated?

  • It would be comforting to think that "Pastor" Robertson has lost his mind in suggesting that Hugo Chavez be "taken out.". Unfortunately, he is quite lucid and is representative of the blood-thirsty, imperialistic mindset of too many U.S. citizens. As to his exposure to legal action according to Patriot Act guidelines, forget it. If anything, Georgigula will present him with the Medal of Freedom.

    • Robertson lost his ind a long time ago, along with any shred of credibiity he ever had, so his statements are hardly surprising.

However, promoting violence against a head of state is quite a bit beyond the pale, especially for a Christian cleric and broadcaster. The shouts of damnation upon Robertson from the religious community should be loud and clear. If memory serves me, killing another human being is in direct contradiction to one of the ten commandments - the very same commandments which Robertson promotes to his many followers. Robertson should have his broadcast rights (whatever they are) suspended for promoting criminal activity.

This kind of sick indoctrination is against the principles of not only Christianity, but the moral consciousness of the people of the United States. To allow crackpots like Robertson to make these kinds of depraved statements without challenge shows the depths to which we have sunk in this country.

Robertson should be banned from any kind of broadcasting. With his statement, he’s made himself an enemy of freedom.

  • How long will US citizens put up with this kind of sh**?

    Viva Chavez!

  • Pat has a big mouth. He’s 75 years old and he was supposed to keep that under his hat. Trust a televangelist not to keep a secret. Let’s just say that Chavez is on a list. Whether it will be this year, next year or the year after, who knows?

    • The CIA has already tried to assassinate Chavez twice that he knows about, so Pat Robertson is just mouthing the policy of the Bush administration, nothing new about that. Separation of church and state is a thing of the past, now its up to the "Christians" to devise new wars and lie in order to profit from the killing fields and plan assassinations in the name of Jesus.

  • Oh, if a foreigner would call for Bush’s assassination that would be a terrorist. If an American Christian *) does it oh he is just an old man. In most European countries anyone who calls for murder would face the law.

*) American Christian: Group of extemist weirdos, who are in favour of ambush, murder, theft, child abuse, rape and wife beating. Tell also that Jesus was asking them to do so.

  • Congratulations to the author for the first witty post ever here on Bellaciao. Mr. Robertson’s comments are unacceptable, and I say this as a libertarian/conservative American who generally supports Bush and goes to church most Sundays.

Mr. Robertson’s views are as loony as those commonly expressed here on Bellaciao. So much for reasonable, responsible rhetoric . . .

  • Has anyone else noticed a physical resemblance between el Presidente de Venezuela and Curtis Sliwa, the founder of the Guardian Angels?
