Remembrance Day 2011: Anti-war Events 11-13 November
by London - Open-Publishing - Saturday 12 November 2011This year, Remembrance Day for members of the armed forces killed in war since World War I is on the tenth anniversary of the invasion of Afghanistan. It is an opportunity to give voice to the majority opinion in Britain that want all the troops to come home from Afghanistan so that no more are made to risk their lives in a failing war in which Afghan civilians and invading soldiers are being killed at a higher rate that any time since the invasion in 2001.
Over the Remembrance Day weekend, 11-13 November, local anti war-groups across the country will be organising vigils, selling white poppies, holding naming the dead ceremonies, or laying white wreaths. In some places local groups will be joining the main remembrance day event, in others they will be organising alternative events.
Please contact us or go to the Stop the War website to find out about activity in your area, to order white poppies and to get involved.
