Outgoing MP, Clare Short is “Profoundly Ashamed” of the UK Government
5 October 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
1 commentBy Mary MacElveen
There are times when listening to talk radio in foreign countries; I realize that we are not so different. Even Parliament leaders from Great Britain show us that we are all very much the same. I was just listening to the Jeremy Vine Show on BBC Radio 2 as he was interviewing outgoing MP Clare Short.
She has accused Prime Minister, Tony Blair and the Labor Party as a whole moving too far to the right. Does that sound as if she were talking of how some Democrats have (…) -

1 commentThe Catholic Church has hit back over claims that Pope Benedict XVI played a leading role in a systematic cover-up of child sex abuse by its priests.
One Archbishop labelled the BBC’s Panorama documentary as unwarranted, misleading and a "deeply prejudiced attack" against the Pope.
The Most Reverend Vincent Nichols, Archbishop of Birmingham, said the Panorama programme misrepresented confidential Vatican papers to back up its claims.

1 commentA BRITISH documentary claimed today that Pope Benedict XVI was implicated in the systematic cover-up of child sex abuse by Catholic priests.
Over 20 years, the man formerly known as Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger enforced a secret 1962 document on how bishops should deal with allegations of child abuse which included a code of secrecy, enforceable by excommunication, the BBC Panorama investigation said.

Evil Ideology: Capitalism Or Islam?
30 September 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
5 comments"If you, Tony Blair really think that you can pose a challenge to Islam then allow the genuine Islamic movements to speak in your media, in line with your principle of ‘free’ speech, which we hear so much about. Give them an equal voice and show the world how intellectually bankrupt they are. What are you afraid of? Are you not the one who is intellectually enlightened and progressive, like some kind of modern Pharaoh, while we are backward from the period of the 7th century Arabia? This is (…)

It must be Mad Cow Disease!

1 commentNowadays, British politicians go around in heavily-guarded, bullet-proof vehicles. They no longer expose themselves to the rough-and-tumble of what used to be politics until about twenty years ago. I’m getting old, I can remember Quintin Hogg electioneering on Chiswick Common in West London, standing on a platform ringing a huge bell both to make his point and to drown out any hecklers. An old Tory rogue who brought a little bit of entertainment to the hustings.
Unlike the present (…) -
Wake up and smell the coffee!

While listening to the News I was in my kitchen, preparing supper. When I saw Abu Izzadeen shouting at Reid my initial feelings were those of excitement that somebody was having a go at the thug who himself was looking dazed and bemused by the sudden attack.
Then I began to feel uncomfortable, even embarrassed. Clearly, Reid and the media were loving it and doing everything to show up Izzadeen as an "extremist" and a dangerous clown.
Why was I feeling uncomfortable and embarrassed, I (…) -
