Letter to Australia re ABC, climate change denialist Monckton, Biofuel Genocide & Climate Genocide

The World is facing what an overwhelming international scientific consensus says is a worsening Climate Crisis, Climate Emergency and Sustainability Emergency from man-made global warming (anthropogenic global warming, AGW). However the taxpayer-funded Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) has given extraordinary coverage to the views of a visiting UK climate change denialist Mr Christopher Walter Monckton, 3rd Viscount Monckton of Brenchley. The following letter about politician and media ignoring of the worsening Climate Genocide is being sent to Australian media, MPs, scientists and climate activists.

Dear Sir/Madam,

The taxpayer-funded Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) has given extraordinary coverage to the views of a visiting UK climate change denialist Mr Christopher Walter Monckton, 3rd Viscount Monckton of Brenchley.

Public debate over how to tackle climate change is fine – but the public must appreciate that any properly “scientific debate” at its most useful and credible is that between top scientists at the cutting edge of climate science and related biological areas.

That proper and expert scientific debate has been ongoing for decades and indeed reached an expert scientific consensus (put crudely, was “won”) over 2 decades ago and led to the formation of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in 1988 to address what was perceived then by scientists to be a very serious and mounting problem.

Indeed in March 2009 there was a scientific Climate Change Conference held in Copenhagen and involving several thousand delegates. The Abstracts of the Conference were promptly published and a Synthesis Report was eventually produced which reached the following conclusion about action and inaction: “Inaction is inexcusable – Society already has many tools and approaches – economic, technological, behavioural, and managerial – to deal effectively with the climate change challenge. If these tools are not widely and vigorously implemented, adaptation to the unavoidable climate change and the social transformation required to decarbonise economies will not be achieved. A wide range of benefits will flow from a concerted effort to achieve effective and rapid adaptation and mitigation. These include job growth in the sustainable sector; reductions in the health, social, economic and environmental costs of climate change; and the repair of ecosystems and revitalisation of ecosystem services" (for a detailed and documented Summary of the Synthesis Report c/- the Yarra Valley Climate Action Group see: http://sites.google.com/site/yarrav... ).

However Mr Monckton has a BA in Classics, an MA and a Diploma in Journalism - he has no scientific training.

This evening I have just heard non-scientist Mr Monckton denying man-made ice melting on the ABC TV 7.30 Report (Wednesday 3 February 2009) – yet the specifically expert US National Snow and Ice Data Centre (NSIDC) says otherwise: “Arctic sea ice reflects sunlight, keeping the polar regions cool and moderating global climate. According to scientific measurements, Arctic sea ice has declined dramatically over at least the past thirty years, with the most extreme decline seen in the summer melt season. Read timely scientific analysis year-round below. Perhaps in the interests of “balance: and “debate” the ABC will now also give publicity to non-scientist and non-medically trained Mr Monckton’s views on medicine.

Thus non-scientist Mr Monckton has also weighed in over HIV/AIDS, declaring "there is only one way to stop AIDS. That is to screen the entire population regularly and to quarantine all carriers of the disease for life. Every member of the population should be blood-tested every month ... all those found to be infected with the virus, even if only as carriers, should be isolated compulsorily, immediately, and permanently" (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christ... ).

Climate change denialist Mr Monkton is the 3rd Viscount Monckton of Brenchley. Mr Monckton’s grandfather was awarded the title of 1st Viscount Monckton of Brenchley in 1957 for his work for the British Establishment, in particular one supposes his work on disinformation and propaganda during World War 2 (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter... ).

A major “success”of British Establishment disinformation and propaganda was to “bury” the 1943-1945 Indian Holocaust and Bengali Holocaust (the first WW2 atrocity to actually be called a “holocaust”, by N.G. Jog in 1944 in his book “Churchill’s Blind-Spot: India” (New Book Company, Bombay)) in which 6-7 million Indians were deliberately and remorselessly starved to death by Churchill, who then deleted in any mention of this massive atrocity from his history of the Second World War (see recent BBC broadcast involving me, Economics Nobel Laureate Professor Amartya Sen and other scholars: http://www.open2.net/thingsweforgot... ).

Climate change denialism ignores massive current climate disruption that clearly contributes to massive avoidable mortality among the world’s poor. 22 million people die avoidably each year due to deprivation and deprivation-exacerbated disease, with this being increasingly impacted by man-made climate change. Indeed the World is facing a worsening Climate Genocide due to man-made global warming.

Both Dr James Lovelock FRS (Gaia hypothesis) and Professor Kevin Anderson ( Director, Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research, University of Manchester, UK) have recently estimated that fewer than 1 billion people will survive this century due to unaddressed, man-made global warming. Noting that the world population is expected to reach 9.5 billion by 2050, these estimates translate to a Climate Genocide involving deaths of 10 billion people this century, this including 6 billion under-5 year old infants, 3 billion Muslims in a terminal Muslim Holocaust, 2 billion Indians, 1.3 billion non-Arab Africans, 0.5 billion Bengalis, 0.3 billion Pakistanis and 0.3 billion Bangladeshis (for details and documentation see “Climate Genocide” : http://sites.google.com/site/climat... and “Muslim Holocaust, Muslim Genocide”: http://sites.google.com/site/muslim...).

Note that “holocaust” involves huge numbers of deaths (e.g. the ongoing Palestinian Holocaust, Iraqi Holocaust and Afghan Holocaust involve, so far, post-invasion violent and non-violent excess deaths totalling 0.3 million, 2.5 million and 4.5 million, respectively), while “genocide” as defined by Article 2 of the UN Genocide Convention means “acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial or religious group”.(and as exampled by the ongoing Palestinian Genocide: http://sites.google.com/site/palest... , Iraqi Genocide: http://sites.google.com/site/iraqih... and Afghan Genocide: http://sites.google.com/site/afghan...).

Mr Monckton must be condemned for his uncredentialled, non-scientist dismissal of the overwhelming international scientific consensus on the acute danger from man-made global warming.

However, to give Mr Monckton some credit, he rejects the fraudulent and ineffective Carbon Trading Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) scams (as do many expert climate scientists, climate economists and climate analysts; see “Top science & economics experts: Carbon Tax needed and NOT Cap-and-Trade Emission Trading Scheme (ETS)”: http://sites.google.com/site/300org... .

To give Mr Monckton further credit, he has also spoken out against the evil (and indeed CO2 polluting) perversion of “Food for Biofuel” that is driving up food prices and threatening a repeat on a vastly greater scale of the 1943-1945 Bengali Holocaust that the Anglo Establishment has so successfully air-brushed from history. A looming massive famine disaster due to escalating food prices (up to 4-fold) in parallel with oil price rises was averted when food prices dropped substantially with the Global Financial Crisis (for details and documentation see “Biofuel Genocide”: http://sites.google.com/site/biofue...).

Unfortunately, an Internet Search of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) for the very terms necessarily used above and which should be part of an urgent public debate in Australia (and the World) reveals the following scandalous absence or paucity of “search results from the entire ABC site” (see: http://www.abc.net.au/ ) : “Climate Genocide” (0), “Biofuel Genocide” (0), “Bengali Holocaust” (0), “Indian Holocaust” (0), “Palestinian Genocide” (0), “Iraqi Holocaust” (0), “Iraqi Genocide” (0), “Afghan Holocaust” (0), “Afghan Genocide” (0), “Muslim Genocide” (0), “Muslim Holocaust” (2, both due to a radio broadcast by me) and “Palestinian Holocaust” (3).

The ABC evidently adopts a philosophically solipsistic position that if we ignore immense atrocities then they simply don’t exist, a position vastly worse than utterly reprehensible “holocaust denial” and “genocide denial” because active “denial” (as opposed to passive “ignoring”) at least admits the possibility of debate.

On 8 January 2010 I did my duty as an Australian and a citizen of the World by sending a Formal Complaint to the Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) re various US Alliance, NATO, EU, Australia, New Zealand and UK involvements in Palestinian Genocide, Iraqi Genocide, Afghan Genocide, Muslim Genocide, Aboriginal Genocide, Biofuel Genocide and Climate Genocide (for full text see: http://www.countercurrents.org/poly... ). Peace is the only way but silence kills and silence is complicity - the Australian taxpayer-funded ABC is named as an “accessory after the fact” of these ongoing crimes against Humanity.
