Edito Media-Network Governments USA

This deliberate manipulation of our news is more than outrageous - it’s a frontal assault on our democracy and is totally disrespectful of the American people.

You’re used to hearing television reporters give their signature tag lines: "In Washington, I’m Karen Ryan reporting." "This is Jennifer Morrow reporting." "I’m Pat O’Leary reporting."

But these days, you can’t know if your news presenter is a reporter ... or a ringer. Karen Ryan, for example, is a veteran of the government’s propaganda machine, having posed as a "reporter" for fake news segments produced and distributed by seven federal agencies in the past two years. Ryan is really a PR consultant, who candidly calls herself a "paid shill for the Bush administration."

Likewise, Jennifer Morrow is a fake - that’s not even her real name. She’s really an employee of a PR firm, hired in 2002 to pose as a reporter presenting a gushing story about the work of Bush’s homeland security agency. Her "news segment," paid for by us taxpayers and produced by the Bushites, aired all across America, with no mention that it was covert propaganda.

Pat O’Leary is not a real reporter, either. He’s one of two full-time poseurs hired by Bush’s department of agriculture to produce videos that are shipped to hundreds of local stations and aired as "news." They travel the country, often covering Bush’s secretary of agriculture - and their reports are unfailingly flattering, free of any critical comments from those who differ with Bush’s policies. No surprise, since their reports must be approved by the ag department’s PR office before being sent to your TV station.

This deliberate manipulation of our news is more than outrageous - it’s a frontal assault on our democracy and is totally disrespectful of the American people. It’s also a dangerous game for those playing it - the Bushites and the station owners are sabotaging their own credibility, which was not strong to start with.

This is not about technical legalities, but about fundamental morality. Both the government and the media are claiming a right to lie to us.

The Media Can Legally Lie

In February 2003, a Florida Court of Appeals unanimously agreed with an assertion by FOX News that there is no rule against distorting or falsifying the news in the United States.

  • "station owners are sabotaging their own credibility"

The beauty in this is that concerned citizens are turning to the internet for their news which is active rather than passive. Once someone wakes up, they will no longer return to the TV and allow them to spoonfeed misinformation to their subconscious. People are starting to think for themselves and there is no turning back. It will be many years, if ever, before the American people trust what they hear on TV again. Their monopoly on the ’truth’ is all they had and now is is over.

This also has huge implications for political races. It has been assumed that money controls all elections, because of the ability of candidates to purchase time for ads on TV. The internet opens up the sharing of truth without the TV, so why should a candidate spend money supporting the networks when they no longer have any credibility? They have proven themselves useless. Think of all that lost revenue, how many millions did ABCNNBCBS make in the last election season? That’s the way to hit em where it hurts.

    The times they are a-changin....

    • Both the Repubs and Dems are in bed with the Media. Every four years they put on a pretense that they call a campaign and this puts megamillions in the Media’s pockets with all the Advertisements. It is a win/win situation for the Media because they make the money no matter who is declared the official winner(by FOX News that is).
I was enlightened as to the Media agenda of not reporting the real news on Nov 2 ,2004 and days after when they not only did not cover the Stolen Election(exit poll discrepanciesand thousands of other irregularities,), instead FOX declared W the winner again. Then they spent weeks of 24/7coverage of the same exit poll discrepancies(except in the Ukraine). There was no coverage of any protests or the history making Electoral challenge .
The Media does not report the news....they MAKE the news. After all Michael Jackson isa much more important story then the threat to our Democracy with this Administrations Fascist policies!

  • to whom it may concern:

It’s all legal, that’s right, it’s legal to tell you things to shape your opinion and make you think any way they want to. Imagine waking up to find out everything you thought you knew was a lie because someone didn’t tell you everything.

Do you lick your wounds and fight back? or do you shrivel up like a coward? and because you do not want to face the mirror, do you turn into this belligerent hard-headed bafoon that regurgitates government propaganda like a good little state citizen instead?

If that’s you, get the phuq out of my country, you don’t deserve liberty and freedom, you deserve a vacation in Iraq.

check out weapons of mass deception, wmd:the film, see how our corporate media "sold" us the war. Then realize that everything you see, hear, and read in the mainstream is owned by a handfull of corporations that are not government watchdogs but pro-government shills that will tell you anything to keep you from jeapordizing their power over you.

The american day-dream is over, stop sleep walking through life, you may want the government to hold your hand but I don’t. Move to china if you want that.

Here’s something else that may help you wake someone up since most americans only understand visuals due to the dumbing down of our society via junk food, junk news, and junk politics.

    • Your post reminds me of a song you might like.... this is one of the first songs that motivated me to take action.

"what would you do if you, knew all the things we knew, would you stand up for truth, or would you turn away too? And then what if you saw, all of the things that’s wrong, would you stand tall and strong, or would you turn and walk away."
