Edito Movement Wars and conflicts USA Cindy Sheehan

Tuesday’s update from the Lone Star Iconoclast includes this huge piece of news- 180 acres have been offered to Cindy Sheehan and the fine folks at Camp Casey.

This will provide plenty of space for everyone that wants to come. No more worries about parking on the road and camping in a ditch- this huge field could make the difference.

Greenday is in Dallas the 20th- wouldn’t it be cool if someone bought 1853 tickets and left that big block seats empty? Can we talk Greenday into coming and playing a set for Camp Casey? American Idiot would sure go over well- maybe they can bring a crowd from Dallas with them.

And the bad news... the Crawford Peace House has received $40,000 dollars in donations- and they’re going to use it to pay off the mortgage! This is unconscionable- somebody stop them.

  • Cindy, You go Girl.

  • The only way that Bush will make any statement of responsibility is when the entire nation, including Republican Senators, repudiates his actions and lies which sent out troops, humvees, tanks, planes and guns into Iraq. He will never apologize, or even feel remorse, until he feels the heat of an impeachment trial on him. So, I say, get maximum publicity, get people behind you, expose the reasons Bush took the nation to war by deception. Don’t let up on him. Even though he is stubborn beyond belief, willing to stay a failed course until doomsday, eventually he will sink, or take the entire Republican party and his entire cabinet down with him.
And, I think that the Republican Senators will want to save their skins, fortunes, and careers and will oblige the American Public by ousting Bush from power. NOt now, but soon. They still have a LOT of vindictiveness to express, lots of unpleasant surprises for the Cindy Sheehan crowd, but eventually they MUST give way to the public outcry.

  • While I feel sorry for your loss, I think your a moron. Your son volunteered for the mission, he was not forced to go. Leaving Iraq would have made his death vain. Go back home, get help to deal with your loss, your 15 minutes of fame are almost over.

    • I wish you would spend your time in a more productive way then name calling! Could you try to show some maturity? Cindy’s son did not volunteer to die so that Haliburton (Cheney’s buds), and W’s buddies could make millions off of war contracts!
Her son as ALL the other brave soldiers are being used, and abused, and ARE dying in vain! The truth does hurt some times,we haven’t heard it much, but it hurts! Just because their deaths were in vain doesn’t mean they weren’t brave and honorable. There families should be proud that they performed their roles, but this whole mess won’t end until people admit that this is about Cheney and W. gaining wealthand power! For only them would this not be in vain!

    • "15 minutes of fame" you’re the moron, learn some English. What are you doing here? Go sign up to go to Iraq since you think this is such a great war. Or do you only think its great if others do the fighting?

    • Watch your step, Cindy (and Company). The White Houise will do what they have done all along when someone speaks out against them. They will try everything they can think of to discredit you and your cause. These people refuse to be held accountable for anything they have done, and they will try to deal with Camp Casey the way they have dealt with everything else that should have gotten them impeached. They will try to discredit you, sweep you under the rug, and rapidly change the subject. People see you everyday, and the word is spreading across political lines.

Bush is terrified of you, or would be if he watched/read the news. He will never meet with you for two reasons. 1) He can’t answer your questions. 2) He wouldn’t be able to script the meeting the way he does other public (town hall) appearances.

But mark my words, the conservative attack is just getting started. O’Reilly has said something about treason, and I’m sure Limbaugh has, too. And that Limbaugh is a tricky fabricator who has a great talent for spin and no tolerance for people who choose to inform themselves and others. So watch your step, because some folks are trying to trip you. God bless and good luck.

    • We’ve just learned that Iraqi leaders, through arm twisting by the Bush administration, has passed a draft constitution which all but guarantee’s Iraq status as a undemocratic Islamic theocracy. The Sunnis will have no say and women will be disenfranchised. In fact, according to the latest news reports, Iraq will mirror late 70’s revolutionary Iran. Hell! bungling Bush has delivered Iraq into hands of the Shite zealots of Iran. Is that what our 1800 and counting boys and girls died for? Once again, Bush lied. Bush said this war was all about finding WMD’s and installing democracy in Iraq. Neither will happpen. This war was about lining the pockets of the fat cats of big oil and the millitary-industrial complex(Bush’s political base). Cindy Sheehan isn’t the moron. The morons are those who are still in denile that they’ve been bamboozled and terrorized by a dim-wit president. IT’S TIME TO IMPEACH BUSH FOR TREASON!- NOW!

  • I see a great contrast between her first comments about her meeting with Bush in her interview on June 24, 2004, that was just several months after her son was killed, and the latest comments she is making about that same meeting with Bush. Cindy Sheehan first said after her meeting with Bush, that she " now knows that Bush is sincere about wanting freedom for the Iraqi’s." Then she went on to say and I quote, " I know he’s sorry and feels pain for our loss." She used two descriptions to describe her impressions of Bush after,Bush’s meeting with her, "Sincere" and " He’s sorry and feels pain for our loss." Now its quite the opposite description of Bush, if you were to listen to her new interpretation of that same meeting with Bush, you would think it was two seperate meetings. Cindy Sheehan now says about that meeting with Bush that " Every time we tried to talk about Casey and how much we missed him, he would change the subject, and he acted like it was a party." That statement indicates just the opposite of what she originally said about Bush, in that she even used the word "sincere" in describing Bush’s demeanor. So I’m to take it that she felt that "acting like it was a party" was sincere, and sincere was as she described Bush in her first interview? The question that now remains concerning her two completely different versions of that meeting with Bush, is, which one is the true story and which one is the lie? In her first interview with David Henson she stated that Bush felt "sorry" about the loss of her son, then Cindy Sheehan turns around and says just the opposite in her interview with Blitzer and I quote " Yes, he came in very jovial, and like we should be happy that he, our son, died." Excuse me but "sorry" and "happy" are not synonyms Mrs.Sheehan. Cindy Sheehan’s versions of that meeting with President Bush just don’t match, they are not remotely similar.

  • The Ballad Of Camp Casey is dedicated to Cindy Sheehan, her son Casey, and all who have suffered loss in Iraq.

I posted videos and an mp3 at ourmedia.org.

    The Ballad Of Camp Casey
    by Larry Heyl

    I’m going down to Crawford.
Gonna put an end to war.
    Gonna talk to the president
And I’ll give him what for.

    I’m going to Camp Casey.
    Gonna sleep beside the road
And when you smirk and swagger here’s what I’ll say.

    Too many died
    Because you lied.
They crossed that river deep and wide.

    We love our kids.
    Look at what you did.
Sent them to the other side.

You know I loved that boy.
And I loved my daughter so.
    I ain’t never gonna see
    my brother anymore.

My kids are gonna grow up
    Never knowing their own dad.
So when you smirk and swagger here’s what I’ll say.

    Too many died.
    Because you lied.
They crossed that river deep and wide.

    We love our kids.
    Look at what you did.
Sent them to the other side.

  • Cindy Sheehan has responded to President Bush’s comments concerning meeting her and has posted her response in The huffington Post. The first statement Cindy Sheehan makes that comes off as anti-democratic is this one and I quote Cindy Sheehan- " Does anyone else know what "democratic" means? It simply means majority rule. Not some high-minded, free-floating, pie in the sky ideal. It means 50 percent plus one." Cindy Sheehen in that particular statement actually attacks 51 % majority rule as a bad form of government and if you can read anything else into that, defending that statement, please make your comment at the end of this post. I would like to say to Cindy Sheehan that 50 plus one is much better then Saddam’s 1 % plus brutal totalitarian rule in which the 1% Saddam, rules 99 % of the entire population. Maybe Sheehan has met with some socialist organizations that oppose democratic forms of government. I did notice that a socialist website called ’Socialist Worker Online’ is running a rather large article advocating Sheehans position. Cindy Sheehan actually gave an interview to the Socialist Worker Online, she spoke to Socialist Worker’s ERIC RUDER which is mentioned at the beginning of the article. In her interview with the Socialist Worker Online she says and I quote " Some people may think that we’re fighting terrorism over there. But when is that job ever going to be complete? Terrorism is just a new “ism.” It was “communism” when I was growing up." Here Cindy Sheehan is discounting the validity of the threat of communism in the past as just a made up " ism." I believe history taught us that communism brutally oppressed and killed millions of innocent people and is still somewhat of a threat today in places like North Korea where millions have died from starvation due to KimYong II, brutal rule. Cindy Sheehan later went on to say and I quote " I DEFINITELY think that we should support war resisters in the military". I will leave that statement up to the readers interpretation, but it sounds to me to border on subversion and treason. Here is Cindy Sheehan’s interview with the Socialist Workers Online in its entirety http://www.socialistworker.org/2005-2/549/549_06_CindySheehan.shtml .
The next statement Cindy Sheehan makes is both inaccurate and untruthful and I quote
"This is the biggest smokescreen from him yet. I didn’t ask him to withdraw the troops, I asked him what Noble Cause did Casey die for." Actually Cindy Sheehen didn’t ask Bush, she demanded that he "bring the troops home now", here is a quote from her statement made on August 18 2005 and carried by ABC News ""If George Bush comes out here today or if we leave here at the end of August, this is only the beginning, and we’re not going to stop until our troops are brought home", I would suggest that means a withdrawal what would you think it means? Also in this ABC article written by Eric Noe it is stated " In addition to requesting a meeting with Bush, Sheehan is now calling for an immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq. She promised to send a similar message if the president agrees to meet with her." Here is the complete article you be the judge http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=1045556&page=1&CMP=OTC-RSSFeeds0312 . Is ABC lying, did they just make that up? I have myself watched Cindy Sheehan on national television say time and time again "bring our troops home now" but she has stated that she has never intended to ask Bush that question. I smell another lie. Whats really strange is in Cindys own article she just released today she says this and I quote " Then bring our troops home. The status quo in Iraq is awful", if you ask me she cant even get through one article without contradicting herself. She goes on to imply that America is spreading "imperialism " by what she says is 14 permanent bases being set up in Iraq the size of Sacramento, California. I dont know if there is any United States military bases on the entire planet Earth the size of a large U.S. city,if there is please let me know ok. By the way the interview Cindy Sheehan gave to the Socialist Worker is the same Socialist worker who ran this article entitled " The Meaning of Marxism" in which they praise Marxism to no end. Here is the link to that garbage http://www.socialistworker.org/Featured/MeaningOfMarxism.shtml
