Another few thousand bit the dust.

Chalk another one up for the Bush administration. That’ll be President Bush’s long lasting legacy when we look back on the first few years of the 21st Century. Thousands of people killed on U.S. soil because the president failed to protect them.

There won’t be any admission of guilt, no one to take responsibility, no one fired for screwing up, just lies and spin, and mudslinging.

You may be familiar with some of that already.

“I don’t think anyone anticipated the breach of the levees,” President Bush told Diane Sawyer in an interview last week.

That’s a page right out of Condoleeza Rice’s playbook.

No one "could have predicted that they [al-Qaeda] would try to use a ... hijacked airplane as a missile," Rice told the commission investigating the 9/11 terrorist attacks in 2003.

Wrong and wrong. Or rather, liar, liar.

There were warnings, memos, emails, phone calls, newspaper reports, meetings, threats, and cries for help. They were just ignored by the presidet and his administration.

Still, there are those who refuse to believe that President Bush and his closest advisers have spent their entire term in office lying to the American public about everything from the Iraq war to social security to the environment to Medicaid and so on.

It’s all documented; the lies. In black and white, in intelligence memos, emails, news reports, transcripts. Even with a mountain of evidence stacked against them, the Bush administration behaves like sociopaths.

Perhaps the apocalyptic images of the devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina will shake these people into reality. The mainstream media has showed a little bit of spine and has asked federal officials some tough questions about the reasons they failed to do their jobs in the aftermath of the hurricane.

Prior to grilling a former official of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Anderson Cooper, a CNN talking head, cautioned viewers Sunday that the cable network was going to show gruesome images of corpses scattered amid the wreckage of New Orleans.

“We don’t want to gloss this over,” Cooper said as the reason CNN was being brutally honest in its reporting.

It would have been nice if those same reporters had a set of balls and asked the same tough questions before the war started in Iraq and showed its viewers the same carnage that littered the streets of Baghdad. There’s no doubt its worse over there. But for now we’ll take what we can get.

  • The answer may be, to ask one’s self....WHAT’S IN IT FOR BUSH?

    • What’s in it for Bush?? Haliburton Contracts, Oil Company profits, Drug Company profits, division of our population, and distraction from other important issues ie)Iraq and the 2 Supreme Court vacancies!
It truely is the "Perfect Storm" for him!

  • Osama Bin Bush! We know for a long time they are brothers in arms. Bush the G.O.P. and the bi-partisan Democrats versus the poor and coloured people in America.

  • pity there are not more of you americans with balls out there.my sympathies are with your troops in iraq and afghanistan who know now that they are in the wrong places.does bush really have that much sway over there in the u.s.america being led by an incompetant.i thank my lucky stars that my kids were born in the free world.you poor bastards.well, you made your bed so you can lay in it.

    • Thank you for your pity. That should take the place of any other help that is needed here. I would bet that whatever country you are from, your corrupt government is in bed with Bushco. Unless you are in France, or Cuba, or Venezuela. If not then I pity you for your ignorance, I bet you think your government is clean as a whistle. The NASTY truth is that corruption among governments around the world is a huge country club affair and more tight knit than the KKK with most of these rulers laughing at all of us (even you) all the way to their Swiss bank accounts. So before you rest assured in your smugness, ask yourself if you really believe your own government isn’t controled by the big money God. I would be most interested in your answer.

  • Politicians all over the world are just dirty bastards! Like Malaysia, the politicians here are just the replica of George W. Bush. Blatantly committing corruptions without shame or guilt. They are worse than animals !!!

  • At this very moment Dick Cheney, Karl Rove and their associates are rubbing their hands in anticipation of the coming harvest of money coming their way. Think of all the corporations that will get billions of taxpayer dollars to "reconstruct" New Orleans. Think of all the developers that are going to steal the homes of the poor by legal maneuvers and by paying about 5 cents on the dollar walk off with millions of dollars worth of real estate. There is absolutely no limit to the corruption of the corporations. They are all friends of George Bush and company, and entitled to make as much profit as humanly possibly without investigation or hindrance. What a wonderful chance for the rich to get rid of the presence of the poor! Let them stay in ghettos or slums somewheres near the garbage dump, making a living by finding scraps of food to eat. After all, God hates poor people, which is why he made them poor and which is why he made George Bush and all his supporters their lords and overseers.

  • More people died than prospered under FDR’s leadership than under that of Eisenhower. Should we direct our complaints to FDR, or to Hitler and Tojo?
