Edito Wars and conflicts Governments USA Mary MacElveen

by Mary MacElveen

I first want to thank Mark Parent and LiveJournal.com for bringing this video feed to the attention of many (English Version from Italian TV): US Chemical Weapons Attack on Iraqi Civilians.

But before you watch this video which is 27 minutes in length, I want to strongly caution you that what you are about to see is so horrific and if you have children, under no circumstances are they to view this feed.

While I have seen graphic photos of the “Bush War” in Iraq, I have never seen such a horrendous feed like this one. Feeds such as this one are not being seen by the American people and they should be.

President Hugo Chavez FriasAmerica deserves to know the truth!

In a recent VHeadline.com article: Bush brought death and destruction to Iraq...images speak for themselves. I called the readers attention to a grainy video feed showing a bombed out Fallujah. This one is far more devastating than that!

When President Hugo Chavez states that our government is “imperialist” in nature ... or where he calls Bush “Mr. Danger” ... I feel, after viewing this feed, that he is using the wrong adjectives. If he were to view it, he would be using much stronger terms to describe what our US government did to an innocent people. As I watched it, I was horrified, sickened beyond belief and I cried a multitude of tears.

In When can citizens of the United States stop hanging their heads in shame for Bush?, I asked pointed questions of our elected American officials:

Do you finally get it now?

Is this the best leadership we can present to the world?

Are you in the least embarrassed and abhorred by these video feeds?

The set of questions I would ask now are:

Why do you continue to support Bush?

Is this leadership or war crimes?

Shouldn’t you be calling for the immediate withdrawal of our troops from Iraq?

Haven’t we done enough damage already?

But here is the most important question of them all: Shouldn’t you be doing everything in your power to IMPEACH Bush? The killing of innocent Iraqi citizens by the use of chemical weapons is not fighting the war on terrorism. What it proves is that we are the terrorists. As I once wrote the Iraqi citizens are suffering a 9/11 on a daily basis for over two and a half years.

To the American media you continually refer to President Hugo Chavez as a ‘leftist’ leader again let me remind you of this fact ... he is a democratically-elected President.

As you write every negative article about President Chavez, let me also remind you that he did not do anything comparable to what Bush has done.

If the American media sat down and watched this video feed ... and after seeing such horrifying images ... wouldn’t they at least be ashamed of using any derogatory term related to President Chavez especially?

Why are they not in front of their cameras calling Bush a butcher?

President Hugo Chavez FriasWhy are they not at their keyboards using similar terms to describe Bush? Where is the morality?

When Pat Robertson was given a podium by the American media citing that President Chavez was a threat to our nation, what the American media failed to see is that Bush is truly the threat to all humanity ... our mainstream American media has failed us all by not reporting these facts.

Contained within this horrific feed one former soldier asserts that the commanders were waiting for the election results to launch their bloody campaign against Fallujah. They were eager to get in there, get the job done to bring death and destruction to the citizens of that town. They did not want to have to wait for any election results between Bush and Kerry to go on as it did between Bush and Gore. When Kerry conceded, it was their green light to go in to this city and use provable weapons of mass destruction on an innocent people. After viewing this feed, Kerry should have dragged the results on for weeks and months on end.

As you will see and as reported by RAI News 24’s investigative story: They present “eye-witness accounts by US military personnel but those from Fallujah residents. A rain of fire descended on the city. People who were exposed to those multicolored substance began to burn. We found people with bizarre wounds-their bodies burned but their clothes intact, relates Mohamad Tareq al-Deraji, a biologist and Fallujah resident.”

What I do find maddening are these facts as presented in this video feed: “In the investigative story, produced by Maurizio Torrealta, dramatic footage is shown revealing the effects of the bombardment on civilians, women and children, some of whom were surprised in their sleep. The investigation will also broadcast documentary proof of the use in Iraq of a new napalm formula called MK77. The use of the incendiary substance on civilians is forbidden by a 1980 UN treaty. The use of chemical weapons is forbidden by a treaty which the US signed in 1997”

So, if the use of these chemical weapons is forbidden by a treaty we signed under Clinton: Isn’t Bush committing a crime now by using these same weapons of mass destruction?

Aren’t our elected officials turning their backs on war crimes such as this?

A while back the full Senate appropriated US$82 billion more for this war and where just recently they appropriated another $50 billion. Isn’t the United States government turning their backs on a treaty we signed and shouldn’t they be held accountable?

I would love to ask Pat Robertson who exactly the real threat is...

From what I have seen, it is not President Hugo Chavez, but George W. Bush.

What I have seen in Bush is not a man that should be allowed to roam free, with our government’s permission and ours. The only place I can think of is a cell right next to Saddam Hussein. At the very least George W. Bush deserves to be tried at The Hague for crimes against humanity ... the citizens of Kosovo toppled their leader Slobodan Milosevic then sent to him to The Hague for similar crimes.

I am asking all our readers to send this video feed to everyone you know ... I am asking that this crime be exposed.

How can we call ourselves a civilized nation if we can do this to innocent civilians that included women and children as they slept?

Bush brought down death and destruction ... and the images speak for themselves.

  • Don’t you ever get it. Americans call it cowardice, when a sucide bomber attacks. The attack on cities by airforce and by using phosphor, gas or napalm is not cowardice, because it is done by the Americans.
Most of the Americans don’t even know about this and they also oust it because it doesn’t fit in the heroic picture. Power has all rights on his sites!

  • The video link does not work from my internet provider.

    Perhaps it`s already blocked?

  • I’m American, I’ve seen the video and I agree with you completely. The administration of George Bush is guilty of war crimes far greater than anything Saddam may be guilty of. And considering that Saddam used chemical weapons purchased from the US,it makes us all the more complicit. Both Afghanistan and Iraq are completely and unequivocally ILLEGAL invasions. 911 was used as a scapegoat for thses invasions.

Perhaps you don’t fully understand whats going on here. There IS a groundswell of backlash beginning. The American media isn’t reporting any of it outside of low poll numbers and then only sporatic. But many people are getting more and more information through the Net. The mainstream Media in the US is no longer trusted except by the simple-minded religious right who still swoon over Bush as the second coming of their personal savior.

The problem is that most of the politicians are part of it. Whether Democrat or Republican, they all drink at the same watering hole. But now, a minority in both Congress and Senate has enabled the Republicans to ram through legislation, quash votes, stall investigations and in general, dictate policy - the policy of Bush and Co. However, that Bush and Co are liars, thieves and murders is beginning to come to light as is evidenced in this video. The world is watching, they know. We’re watching....we know too and it’s all over the Net. The blogs are buzzing with it. The tide is turning against this band of criminals. Stubborn and proud fighters like Chavez are a welcome sight to many in the US.

We do want change. The majority of Americans are fed up with this insanity. We’re hoping for a change in 2006 mid-term elections to allow the other party to take control and stop this madness.

As it sits today, we couldn’t even get a vote for impeachment - though 53% of the country feel he should be impeached if it is found that he lied (which we know to be the truth) because the Republicans won’t allow the vote.

Keep your sights on Nov. 2006. The year of change.

And keep up the good fight Chavez! WE KNOW Robertson is a lunatic.

    Frustrated American

    • I completely agree with this writer about this war being all wrong. I also agree that there have been many war crimes and all these need to be made public. The mainstream media is not focusing on IMPORTANT news stories. I’m tired of hearing about Natalee Holloway, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. The only point I DO NOT agree on with this writer is when he stated that the United States has committed crimes that are worse than Saddam Hussien. Come on, you can’t really believe that. While wrong, the crimes the United States has committed has not been with the utmost malicious intent. While wrong and reckless, it was not done with evil in mind. Hussien is the epitomy of evil. There is no beating him in that category. Only Adolf Hiter, in my opinion, is any worse.

  • These kinds of actions have occurred throughout the history of the US. Sadly, the majority of people here don’t care about much of anything except how much it costs to fill up their oversized vehicle with petrol. There is a significant segment of the populace in the US who understand that the US thrives on perpetual war and can see the corruption and aggression that threatens the world’s stability, energy, and environment. We speak out, but are increasingly silenced beneath a deluge of religious fundamentalism, press control, patriotic jingoism. The government monitors our correspondence, what we read in the library, and where we travel.

The rest of the world cannot wait for Americans to care. Just read history. After 150 years of slavery, the US now has as many African Americans in prison providing labor for corporations as there were slaves in the early 1800’s. The US will never stop invading and destabilizing countries around the world. While there are many people here who want fundamental change they are powerless. Did you observe the tragedy in New Orleans?

The adult world community could stop this violent regime in a nanosecond. The US is deeply in debt and borrows 2 billion dollars a day from Europe, the Middle East, Japan, and China. The US dollar is propped up by trillions in debts. If the rest of the world dumped their US Treasuries the war machine would grind to a screeching halt. Why don’t they do it? They want to loan us money so that we can buy their oil, cheap shoes, and junk from China.

The best and most peaceful solution is for the United States to break up, as did the USSR. A devolved government representing a union of autonomous regions and a pacifist (defense only) constitution will not only stop the US from taking over the world, it may decrease the chance of nuclear apocolypse. It will solve many internal cultural problems that are headed to a boiling point. I think this is the least violent solution.

Don’t blame all people in the US for being passive. While some are, many here feel occupied and are no more to blame than the Iraqis. I believe strongly that Bush was not legally elected.

Maybe if petrol reaches the same price the rest of the world pays, people will revolt. But don’t expect a newly found moral consciousness to emerge. The US is the recklessly selfish teenager in the world.

  • It may sound strange to some but on a collective level the leaders know that many Americans simply hate anyone and anthing that is not "White American". This collective emotion and thinking is a powerful force that has resulted in this war. Certainly, it is true that Bush and the people of in the administration are the focul point that is directing the events, but, it needs the "feelings" and "thoughts" of the White American public for conduct.

Equally, if the collective White American thinking were against the war, it would stop. But this is not the case. Even now, some two years after the initial attack and invasion, the "feelings" and "thoughts" are heavily for war. A few voices raised here and there does not and cannot overcome the massive collective feelings and thoughts that are for war.

This is something that cannot be easily changed as White America is exteremely biased and hateful of Muslims and Arabs. It may not be spoken but there is an instrinsic hate that the Muslims and Arabs have the oill resources. Verbally, it is stated that, "those people are crazy", or that, "those people have always been at war", or that, "those people only understand violence", etc.

But, the true deep and real reason, the unspoken emotion and hatered is so strongly ingrained that it is impossible to overcome. To some extent this hatered manifested itself in my church community, when members simply would not even contribute to the victims of Katrina; because a majority did not fit there idea of "American". Certainly, this was not the "core" hatered that they hold for Arabs and Muslims, but, the belief was concentric to that centered hatered.

White America seemingly not careing above and beyond the petrol price is only part of the issue that is somewhat visible. The true and real elements are completely hidden.

    • ".....White America seemingly not careing above and beyond the petrol price is only part of the issue ...."

Are you saying that Latino America, Black America, Asian and Indian America are all against the invasion and the only white America supports it? Your statement speaks volumes to the obvious fact that you don’t live in America. The anti-war movement crosses all races, ages and ethnicities. Our govt. controlled media is what you’re seeing. Not the truth.

    • Yes, I live in America. I moved here in 1997 from Cheni, India, as I was recruited for an IT job. Whenever my annual contract is not renewed I will be going back. On the other hand when I feel I cannot do my job with vigor I will go back. In either case, I am currently living in America.

I can attest to you of how I am treated here in America as a non-White person. Yes, it is true, that I have a job, and that I was recruited for this position, etc. And I can give you reasons as to why I chose to come and work here — but that you be much a digression from this. Seemingly, these same reasons would be used to dismiss my viewpoint and dismiss my being. It is a common attribute of White America in justifying thier "selves", their essence.

But I simply do not see the anti-war movement as heterogenous as you. My point above is to show that the even if there are a mix of people in the anti-war camp, it does not mount to a hill of beans.

The White American public and the White American mindset. simply put, the White American, is what counts in America. Everything else is simply marginalized. Of the protests I am aware of against this war, I did not see any non-White faces — it is though, the non-White knows that his or her opinion does not matter and does not bother to participate in such things.

I stand by my analysis that it is the White American emotion and thinking and their intrinsic core hatered for Muslims and Arabs is this war, the resulting outcome. It so appears that bloodlust has not been satisfied. In support of what I say, all of the excuses that were presented before and after the war are easily accepted by the White American. It is their hate for these Muslims and Arabs that allows for absorption of these excuses without question. If the White American were a fair minded and purer at heart then it would be detestable to hear such things from their leaders — and they would be questioned.

This war against Iraq and an overall war against Muslims I predict will last the next 900 years if not longer. There is simply nothing migiating White America’s hate.

    • I think one has to be careful about stereotyping a whole nation of people or race. While we can often find obvious similarities---- to claim all or even most ’whites’ have something against moslems, or darker skinned people based simply on their religion or race I think is a false sterotype.

Many Americans, the polls say a MAJORITY, now favor ending the War on Iraq. As the lies of this administration keep coming out and the citizens find the info regradless of the gutless corporate state-run media things are turning and the public is starting to voice an angry cry for justice against the liars and manipulators.

It seems nowdays almost EVERY group of people somehow feels persecuted by some other group. Even poor "whites" in America feel persecuted by "wealthier whites", many darker skinned "blacks" feel persecuted by lighter skinned "blacks" it never seems to end. I don’t deny predjudice exists in fact I’m sure many people are. Sometimes though I have even heard dark skinned poeple confess they think their own races are equally some of the most prejudiced people around. Go figure.

I personally live by the philosophy that I will to the best of my ability try no to prejudge someone bases soley on their religion or race. In fact in my line of work some of the hardest working and most successful individuals I know are from India, China, former Soviet countries etc. and I admire them (or not) for what they are as INDIVIDUALS.

Sometimes I think, and I don’t mean this bad, some folks simply FELL others are predjudiced against them from their OWN misconceptions and prejudices. NOT everyone, but some. We have to be careful not to create self fulfulling prophecies.

And last but not least, I must confess their are some neighborhoods that myself or most anyone who knows them would not walk through after dark. Does this mean I’m prejudice.? I don’t think so. Statistically there ARE some neighborhoods that are more crime ridden and sorry to say some GROUPS that have a much much higher crime rate. To ignor this is simply to ignor reality.

So how can we balance these two things? I’m not sure there’s an easy answer. The best I can do personally I feel as an individual is to give everyone a chance as a person vs a ’thing’ (race religion, etc.) and judge them on who THEY really are not which textbook ’classification’ they fall under. I could be wrong and breaking my own rule of not ’prejuding’ :) but I happen to think there are many many other ’white’ (if we must use that label) Americans who will agree.

  • 1. The American people are ignorant children, proud of their ignorance. Too stupid to know that they have deserted the cause of our founding fathers.

    2. There is no media, only government propoganda outlets.

    3. There is only one party: Republicans & Republican moles.

The Marines should be disbanded for Falluja — brainwashed, psycho-killers led by the morally defective. To most Americans, the Marines are the biggest heroes of them all, unfortunately. We Americans cannot let our childhood view of our forces as heroes go. Also the cable military channels (The Military Channel, The History Channel, & Discovery NY Times) all love the Marines.

  • quotes by Machiavelli
    1. "A prince wishing to keep his state is very often forced to do evil"
    2. "Is necessary to take such measures that, when they believe no longer, it may be possible to make them believe by force"

  • The starting point is "read the constitution", then debate the founding fathers arguments for the inclusion or rejection of every single word written therein. The intention was to have a limited small federal government. That taxing the citizens of the republic, is forbidden. The Fed Reserve and the income taxing 16th amendment (fraudulently ratified) became law within the same year. The constitution forbids a private group (FED Reserve) from issuing money and since no amendment to the constition to allow it was made, it operates illegally. There is no law requireing the payment of income taxes on labor currently. The taxes collected "by voluntary" payment only goes to pay the interest on the money borrowed by the government from the FED (who only print it or enter #’s on paper). The governments interest in borrowing money is fueled by the condition of WAR. Starting in 1812 and not being able to aquire funds. For over 130 years our country prospered without a tax on labor. Paying your income tax is not legally required (not that illegallity ever stops this government) and provides the means to oppress its own citizens and the rest of the world. Today we have a society unaware of their "bill of rights" (first 10 ammendments to the constitution) and consequently allow their "rights" to be trampled by the keeper of those rights (the supreme court) by such police state articles as the patriot act. I imagine Jefferson yelling in outrage from his grave. Without a free media and wise judiciary we might as well call ourselves Nazi’s like a german diplomat did. Well if the shoe fits. I wish to thank you mary for your contribution to our continuing education. The cruel actions that take place in WAR should make WAR itself a crime when not a defensive action. The fires of HELL await you George, Condaleeza, Dick, Rumy, Wolfawitz, Pearl, and all the other certifiable DEATH EATERS. Peace my fellow time travellers. Zorro

  • I’m in Arkanasas and I can tell you that I meet people all the time that don’t believe the pretext for this war. I believe in the Constitution and beyond that I don’t give a crap about politics. In Arkansas we have a couple of local talk shows and I hear more and more new voices daily. People are catching on. We can’t give up and the best thing we can do is to call in to these shows and voice our opinions. Make phone calls to people that don’t feel like you do in an attempt to reach those who are sitting on the fence. There is power in numbers and it is past time that those who seek the TRUTH stand up and be heard. I realize this is extremely cliche and I do apologize. God Bless

  • U.S. intelligence sources who served in Iraq report that after photos from Abu Ghraib prison surfaced of naked male prisoners who were forced by their U.S. guards to form human pyramids and masturbate, the U.S. military went into total denial mode. "It was a ’don’t ask, don’t tell policy,’" according to one intelligence source who was assigned to both the Abu Ghraib and Camp Bucca prisons. Federal Judge Alvin Hellerstein has ordered the Pentagon to release to the American Civil Liberties Union 74 photos and 3 videotapes taken at Abu Ghraib in 2003. However, the Pentagon is resisting the judge’s order.

There is good reason for the embarrassment of the Pentagon in the affair. The orders to take the sexually-oriented photos and videos, some of which involve teenage Iraqi boys and girls and sodomization by their guards, came directly from a pedophile and closeted male homosexual ring operating in the White House, according to the intelligence sources. Copies of the tapes and photos were sent directly to the White House for the entertainment of senior members of the Bush White House, including officials in the Vice President’s office and the Executive Office of the President.

When the photos at Abu Ghraib became public, the senior military command structure in Iraq "went nuts," according to an individual who witnessed the cover-up of the affair. "They ordered an immediate policy of denial about details of the prisoner abuse at Abu Ghraib," said the source. The source added that senior officers were disgusted that lower ranking guards were prosecuted and jailed when the order for the mistreatment came directly from the White House.

    • Its all coming out in the press now about the phosphorous weapons used on civilians in Fallujah.
Horrible things happen in every conflict, and albeit that revulsion is generally felt, the debate is shifting as to what and what is not a chemical weapon. No reference as to what the fuck were they doing in a foreign country slaughtering civilians.

Its like the brutal rape, torture and killing of a person and then a debate whether a knife or pliers were used.

Lets not get away from the central issue that an illegal invasion, and slaughter was instigated through deceipt and lies, by a draft dodging idiot with childlike traits for his rich backers.

    • So, what makes you White Americans so much superior humans than others?

So, much so, that you want to force your "model of civilization" onto others.

    • I understand what you’re saying and what the central cause is. However this story carries a real punch. What we need to do is figure how to reach those blind, deaf and dumb to evil, those passive to evil, but not really evil themselves. The death photos from Falluja might be able to do that. I think we should make this story as big as possible.

I hope somewhere we know the names of the commanding officers of the attack on Falluja. They should be brought up on charges of crimes against humanity — hopefully someday for real, but for now, at least on the net.

  • YOU really need to send the to Rep. John Muther, Sen. John Kerry and a host of others - I know they would really like to help expose this. And bring yet even more disgrace and dishonor to the US Military.

    You go girl.

    (/sarcasm) - antisocialista

    • The US military is doing a really good job of bringing disgrace and dishonor on themselves, they do not need any help. We need to bring the murdering bastards home where we can spit on them.

    • Your right! Again.

I’m sure there are alot of them coming home for thanksgiving. Why don’t you just trot youself down to the airport and start hocking away sparky.

Of course, since they are murdering bastages like you say, they may not take so kindly to that and beat the living tar out of you. But you would have made your point, and really isn’t that what matters most.

      Antisocialista (baby)

    • Agent provocateur, sarcasm, or idiocy?........... sarcasm I hope. Provocateur perhaps...

I would be first in line to shake the hand of any soldier that was simpy trying to do his or her job (to try and protect PEACE in a Hellish situation) that put your lights out after any attempted spitting on returning soldiers.

Do I support this illegal and immoral (IMO) war? NO! Do I think that those that enlisted and hoped they would be used for DEFENSIVE purposes should be spit on in disgust for simply being COERCED into a mission many may really don’t believe in at heart?? NO!!!

Those who are expected to LEAD and made the decision to pursue this big OIl and Empire Adventure need to take FULL responsibilty. Bush looked so foolish going around trying to blame a COERCED congress for supporting a failed war. While they must take responsibility for their individual decisions to go to war that they felt pressured is obvious.

Force didn’t work in Vietnam even after 50 thousand plus dead U.S. soldiers and MILLIONS of dead Vietnamese CIVILIANS. But it did make a few contractors immensily wealthy and perhaps helped a sinking economy recover some until the next war to come along to pump up a slumping Wall Street.

There has to be a better way. How about a several hundred dollar diversion from death and destruction to a program of building say something like Americas devastated road and bridge system. Rather than spending billions to murder and maime people we could actually save perhaps tens of thousands of highway deaths and injuries and perhaps lower premiums. Wouldn’t this be a better use of money. Building not destroying.Promoting life not killing.

The Bush/Cheny Neo-CON Fascists like dinosaurs belong to the fossil record and should have no place in a New World that says NO to war for the next 50 years and millions of potential violent useless deaths.

    • I say bring them home so that we can all line up and spit at the murdering bastards.

  • Karl Rove, Conspiracy Planet - Media s - Karl Rove Seen at Homosexual Orgies in Washington Walter Storch, editor of the Barnes Review News reported three weeks ago that "Karl Rove was seen by one of my people entering a private homosexual orgy at a five-star Washington hotel over the Mid-Atlantic Leather (MAL) weekend last year." [2004] A Barnes reporter told Storch that "Karl greatly enjoyed the supervision of a certain hairy 350-lb. Leather Dominator who had won the Miss Virginia Daddy Bear title at the MAL festivities."
