Dangerous Ideas
19 October 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
There is, let me assure you, nothing more egocentrical than an embattled democracy. It soon becomes the victim of its own war propaganda...(attaching) to its own cause an absolute value which distorts its own vision on everything else. Its enemy becomes the embodiment of all evil. Its own side, on the other hand, is the center of all virtue.
George Kennan
Remember, not so long ago, when internet enthusiasts were hailing the transformative powers of open source codes and materials that (…) -

15 September 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
4 commentsI wrote the below net-letter, to a covert ’Editor’-supporter of Likud-Israel, in Sydney Australia [after they deleted my article]; and also to one of their ever-ready ’average reader’ commentators - (who jump up to support ANY censorship of Israeli treatment of the Palestinians), who said that ’reader’ Articles or Opinions about Israeli attacks and killings had no place on Sydney Indymedia because they were not ’local’ news and hence were not ’of interest’ to the people of Sydney. The (…)

The Dreamslayers & the Internet
15 July 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
by Jim Kirwan
Unregulated Capitalism is a continuing crime that has enabled most of what passes for commerce today.
The latest and perhaps most serious attempt to regulate those of us who challenge these behemoths of commerce and industry; is the pending legislation that seeks total control over who can use the world-wide web. If these people have their way, the internet will become a toll-road with diamond lanes for them and the backroads of lengthy delays for the rest of America. If (…) -

30 April 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
I’m listening to Neil Young’s new album, Living With War. It’s not my first time; I was lucky enough to be at a private listening last week in California. But now, along with millions of others connected to the Internet, I’m hearing it live today through my computer speakers, streaming for 24 hours, courtesy of Mr. Young and his absolutely brilliant bunch of guerrilla marketers and movement builders. Peace groups like True Majority smartly have seized on the moment to mobilize Young’s (…)
