En tant que membres du Collectif de recherche sur l’autonomie collective (CRAC), nous joignons notre voix à celles des nombreux groupes et individus qui ont vigoureusement dénoncé la violence étatique et la répression policière sans précédent auxquelles nous avons assisté lors du Sommet du G20 à Toronto. Ces violences ont affecté nos amis et amies, nos collègues, nos camarades, nos partenaires, nos communautés.

1 commentaireLorsque le légendaire syndicaliste Michel Chartrand réclamait il y a une dizaine d’années un revenu de citoyenneté universel et inconditionnel pour tous les Québécois, revenu qui selon monsieur Chartrand devait se situer un peu au-dessus du seuil de la pauvreté (l’aide sociale mettant une personne bien en bas du seuil de pauvreté), moi et bien d’autres étions tout à fait d’accord avec cette proposition.
Il nous semblait en effet qu’il s’agissait d’une mesure progressiste visant à réduire (…) -

3 commentairesPour Israël, il est de notoriété publique que le Canada est l’un des meilleurs alliés de l’État hébreu.
Quand je vois la férocité des attaques d’Israël, comme en 2006 au Liban et à la fin de 2008 à Gaza, en tant que Canadien, je suis heureux qu’Israël nous considère comme un grand allié.
Ça veut dire qu’on aura pas à subir les bombardements intensifs qu’Israël réserve à des pays ennemis.
À voir comment Israël et les USA bombardent férocement leurs ennemis, on comprend mieux pourquoi (…) -

2 commentairesLa guerre froide est terminée depuis 20 ans. Pourtant cette semaine, deux bombardiers russes ont cherché à pénétrer dans l’espace aérien canadien et des CF-18 canadiens les ont forcés à rebrousser chemin.
Dire qu’il y a vingt ans, on pensait que le monde ne serait plus un endroit de tension constante puisque même les pays de l’Est avaient désormais reçu la lumière capitaliste.
Maintenant que l’univers entier partage la même idéologie, il est en effet surprenant de voir que des tensions (…) -
La violence des riches

Il n’y a qu’à se promener dans les rues des grandes villes comme Montréal ou Toronto et de voir le nombre de sans-abris et d’intinérants, de regarder les façades de maisons délabrées, de voir des immigrants et des Canadiens de souche aussi incapables d’occuper un emploi pour sentir toute la violence avec laquelle les riches dominent la société.
C’est le chanteur Dan Bigras qui a déjà dit que les structures de la société étaient violentes et il avait bien raison.

Les médias dominants canadiens euphoriques : la création d’emplois progresse et le chômage diminue

Les médias corporatifs canadiens ne pouvaient cacher leur joie aujourd’hui alors que les nouvelles sur la création d’emplois et sur le chômage étaient au-delà des espérances confirmant ainsi la "reprise" économique.
C’est incroyable combien une nouvelle qui semble annoncer un regain de vigueur du capitalisme crée de l’enthousiasme.
Évidemment, même si le chômage a reculé et est maintenant à 7,9 pourcent, c’est quand même beaucoup de monde au chômage. Surtout quand on sait que les (…) -

Le légendaire syndicaliste québécois Michel Chartrand, décédé plus tôt cette année, avait déclaré en 1999 qu’il voyait advenir un revenu de citoyenneté universel au Québec dans deux ans.
Évidemment onze ans plus tard, non seulement il n’y a toujours pas de revenu de citoyenneté au Québec mais on en entend même plus parler.
En effet, le patronat et les milieux d’affaires du Québec ont effectué un travail formidable au cours des onze dernières années pour faire oublier ce projet qu’avait (…) -
Décision payante de virer à droite pour le parti Québécois : le parti remporte la partielle dans Vachon

1 commentaireLa décision de madame Pauline Marois, cheffe du parti Québécois de mettre la priorité sur la création de la richesse a été payante hier dans l’élection partielle qui se déroulait dans le comté de Vachon.
En effet, la candidate Martine Ouellet a été élu avec un pourcentage du vote encore plus important qu’à l’élection de 2008.
Sûrement que la décision du parti Québecois d’effectuer un virage à droite en mettant d’abord l’accent sur la création de la richesse avant de s’attarder à la (…) -
Des dirigeants politiques peu rassembleurs

1 commentaireCe qui est présentement remarquable si l’on examine la politique internationale, c’est de constater le manque flagrant de dirigeants politiques rassembleurs.
En effet, on a plutôt affaire à des dirigeants qui divisent leurs citoyens et même je dirais que de toute ma vie, c’est la première fois que j’ai connaissance qu’il y ait en Occident tant de chefs d’État qui divisent leurs propres citoyens.
Au Canada, Stephen Harper est contesté par ses politiques qui n’ont jamais été autant (…) -
La ferveur nationaliste est de plus en plus importante à cultiver dans un pays multiculturel

Dans un pays multiculturel, il est encore plue important d’entretenir la ferveur nationaliste étant donné la diversité des origines ethniques de la population.
Le gouvernement canadien de Harper l’a bien compris par son engagement militaire plus importante que par le passé.
Aussi, les jeux olympiques de l’hiver dernier à Vancouver ont contribué à accentuer cette ferveur nationaliste d’un pays réuni autour du drapeau peu importe l’ethnicité d’origine de ses citoyens.
