THE TRUE JUDAS
Published in Pravda.Ru on 06/12/06
The popularity of Dan Brown’s novel The Da Vinci Code has also renewed interest in the Gnostic Gospels, the “heretical” texts that were banned from the traditional Bible and considered lost until copies were discovered in the Egyptian desert in 1945.
Thanks largely to passages in the Gospel of Phillip, The Da Vinci Code has raised intriguing questions about the relationship between Jesus and Mary Magdalene. Yet lost in this “Codemania” (…)

When AWOL Is the Only Way Out
5 June 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
As explained in a new book, Mission Rejected, the sight of U.S. troops kicking the heads of decapitated Iraqis around ’like a soccer ball’ made Army soldier Joshua Key desert to Canada.
By Peter Laufer
The following text is an excerpt from Peter Laufer’s new book, "Mission Rejected: U.S. Soldiers Who Say No to Iraq" (Chelsea Green, 2006).
"We was going along the Euphrates River," says Joshua Key, a 27-year-old former U.S. soldier from Oklahoma, detailing a recurring nightmare — a scene (…) -
Dreams Of Sand...
2 June 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
1 commentDreams Of Sand... He awoke to heat and thirst and pain, Not sure where he was in the silence, Lying torn on burning sands, Seeing the cloudless blue sky waver and shimmer.
Rolling over with a groan, He shakily got his feet under him, Unsteady and drenched in sweat that steamed away instantly.
He raised a hand to shield his eyes, All the world was sand unbearably bright, A scorpion crawled by nearly at his feet, He licked his cracked and bleeding lips and remembered what it was, Just in (…) -
It’s Only a Dream: The Truth about Bush
2 June 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
1 comment(This is a parody of a poem by Edgar Allen Poe. I wrote it in honor of the new poll which shows that George W. Bush is the WORST President of all time!) Take these facts upon your brow your base is parting from you now. This much let us all avow You are not strong at all, we deem your "mandate" claims have been a dream. All your "capital"s gone away... or was it there? "Oh no!" we say. Was it "vision" or just none? you have nothing, zero won! All that you’ve claimed, so it would seem, is but (…)

IN FALLUJAH, WHERE WE FELL
31 May 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
7 comments(Based on an old Civil War Poem, from the Confederate side) In Fallujah, where we fell, there nothing grows. Between the ruins, row on row a marked disgrace. And in the sky the vultures, squawking, darkly fly, scarce heard amid the dust below. We are the dead. Short days ago we lived and thrived, saw sunrise glow, loved, embraced, and now we lie in Fallujah, where we fell. We took the quarrel to the foe! to them from ghostly hands we threw the curse of pure defeat, yes, that we cried... And (…)

COMMENTS ON DAVID SIROTA’S NEW BOOK - HOSTILE TAKEOVER
10 May 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
4 commentsComments On David Sirota’s New Book - Hostile Takeover - by Stephen Lendman
I’d like to begin my commentary on David Sirota’s important new book Hostile Takeover with my strong endorsement of his fine work. Everyone should read it to learn what’s really going on around us that affects us all in the most important ways I know and which most people at best only vaguely understand on many if not most of the major issues. Those who read it will learn in stunning and graphic detail how large (…) -
Racist UK-US democratic tyranny, "free market", "drug patent rights" & African HIV/AIDS catastrophe
10 May 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
6 commentsOf course, unlike the situation in the 19th century, the democratic West is now politically correct (PC) and eschews explicit racism. Kurtz’s assertion of "exterminate all the brutes" in Joseph Conrad’s African novel "Heart of Darkness" was acceptable back in circa 1900 when it was first published in an explicitly racist Britain. Western intellectuals armed with Darwin’s "Origin of Species" justified racist colonial impositions in terms of "survival of the fittest" (i.e. those with guns). (…)

Comments on Noam Chomsky’s New Book - Failed States

1 commentCOMMENTS ON NOAM CHOMSKY’S NEW BOOK - FAILED STATES - by Stephen Lendman
Noam Chomsky hardly needs an introduction. Throughout his lifetime as an internationally esteemed academic, scholar and activist he’s the rarest of individuals I know. He’s world renown twice over - in his chosen field of linguistics where he’s considered the father of modern linguistics and as a leading voice for equity, justice and peace for over four decades. Although the dominant US corporate media religiously (…) -

From Publishers Weekly
Leopold, one of the reporters who broke the Enron story, is now breaking his own story: how he got addicted to cocaine, committed grand theft, cleaned himself up and found happiness as a "news junkie." While residential rehab programs and an incredibly committed wife were key to his turnaround, what saved his (…)
