Bush sacks Top Generals in preparation for an Iran attack
by Open-Publishing - Wednesday 13 June 20077 comments

Before the end of his rogue presidency, Bush seems determined to attack Iran.
The evidence for that becomes clearer every day. Not only is there an ongoing military build-up in the Gulf area but, more ominously, he has now sacked the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Peter Pace, who is known not only to oppose an attack on Iran but to be an opponent of the neocons’ plan for a Long or Generational War.
If the Senate approves his nomination, Pace’s replacement will be Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Michael Mullen, who is much more in line with Bush and the PNAC neocons. At a recent address of US naval personnel in Pearl Harbour, Mullen stated that "The enemy now is basically evil and fundamentally hates everything we are — the democratic principles for which we stand ... This war is going to go on for a long time. It’s a generational war."
This is undiluted neocon talk: paranoia about hidden enemies justifying an endless war of imperialism, including the use of first-strike ’tactical’ nuclear weapons, to subdue the rest of the world by military might and the doctrine of ’compellence,’ the very same doctrine which is now forcing Russia to respond with the threat of deploying new nuclear weapons in a strategy of asymmetric warfare.
(Bush’s Gift to the Military Industry: A New Cold War Arms Race with Russia)
By creating imaginary enemies, the will of the Military-Industrial Complex is served and a huge and increasing amount of US tax dollars channelled into the pockets of the arms producers.
When Pace goes, there may be a further shake-out of the Joint Chiefs to remove the other top brass who have reportedly opposed the Surge into Iran. I am afraid that may leave it all in the laps of Congress.
Either the Senate Democrats get their act together, block this appointment, AND get on with the overdue job of Impeachment, or we should be ready to start losing more American cities.
Blocking Mullen and Impeaching Bush may be the most important things we ever do.

Meanwhile, in what appears to be part of an orchestrated neocon campaign to press for an attack on Iran, arch-zionist Senator Joe Lieberman is again rattling his sabre by saying Bush must consider a military strike against Iran "because of Tehran’s alleged involvement with Iraqi insurgents."
Lieberman said much of the action could probably be done by air, although he would leave the strategy to the generals in charge.

I hope yuo are right and that we can knock the Iranians back before they get a nuke as it will be a lot less painful for the Iranians to have a conventional attack on it verses a nuclear attack , but however it turns out we cannot allow the nutters in Iran to have the bomb.

To the dumbass neocon tool who is advocating for war with Iran I hope you and others like you are planning on joining the miltary because Bush will need a lot more cannon fodders to undertake that mission. The time has past for america thinking they can win a gound war by bombing alone. Sooner later you will have to send in a ground force to stabalize the place and that’s when the locals get their revenge. And why shouldn’t Iran want a nuclear weapon? Isreal has hundreds of nukes pointed at Iran, America’s ploiticians are threatening to nuke Iran, Iran next door neighbors were invaded and are currently occupied because they were unable to defend themselves. Iran’s leaders would be a fool and negilegent to the safety of their people to not try to produce a nuke.
China and Russia has huge business interest in Iran, do you think they are going to continue to sit on the side line while america continues her unilateral, imperilaistic missions in that oil rich region that continue to go against their interest.
This world is bigger than just the interest of the US and Isreal, and I think we will find out the hard way if we nuke a non nuclear country. No amount of explaination or propoganda will be able to convince the world that we are not an evil empire that should be opposed by the international community.... Pat Turner

You must realise that appeasing a cuntry like Iran is a disaster we are leaving for our children.
It’s like a yobbo terrorising the neighborhood , he has a knife , you have a gun , he won’t affack you until he has a gun bexause he knows you have one , but when he gets a gun you’d better beware.

The problem with your analogy is Irans is not threatening us, I can’t recall Iran ever attacking any country in the last hundred and something years. America and Isreal seems to find some excuse to attack some country every few years. The big argument the neo cons like to make is that Iran sponsor terrorism. I’m sure Iran isn’t doing anything more than what our CIA, Mossad and other black op agents are doing around the world. America is a blood thirsty war mongering country. Once they attack Iran a few years later they will find a another enemy to attack it’s no longer about national security because if it was they would do something about Saudi Arabia in which 15 of the 19 so called hijackers came from, they would do something about North Korea who’s got a crazy dictator with nukes, they would would’ve done something about Pakistan when their scientist was caught selling nuclear secrets. Only the small defenseless oil rich countries who don’t toe the line seems to be the only ones in americas scope, I wonder why. - Pat Turner

84.**.163.** What simplistic, deluded thinking. And to think people like you have an equal right to vote! Universal suffrage was definitely a mistake. It should depend on one’s intelligence.

Please educate yourself. Osama is an asset of the CIA. 911 was an inside job to justify the invasion and occupation of Afghanistan in order to build and protect Unocal oil and gas pipelines as well as restore the international supply of heroin that the Taliban compromised with their poppy eradication policies.
Iraq HAD NO WMD’s nor did they have the means to produce nukes anytime in the foreseeable future. Iran poses no threat either, nor has Iran ever threatened the US. However, we have been screwing around with Iran for over 50 years, including overthrowing their legitimate democratically elected government and installing the dictator Shah and his brutal death squad secret police (just to name one instance)
It surprises me how many simple minds are out there who believe this world operates on such a kindergarten level. Oooh bad man...we good guys go get bad man, make world safe again. Wake up, and educate yourself. This twisted logic of "let’s nuke Iran now because sometime in the future they may get a nuke of their own and then they might threaten us" is just the mindless meanderings of lunatics and psychopaths. THINK FOR YOURSELF.
