Democratic Delegates to meet in emergency session to choose Dennis Kucinich as new nominee
by Open-Publishing - Wednesday 11 August 2004I mean really. How much longer are we going to let this go on? John Kerry is a horrible horrible candidate. Every day it seems to get worse. It was an embarrassment to our country when Bush stood naked in front of the American people at his press conference explaining that ’knowing what he knows now, he still would have gone into Iraq.’ We have come to accept that Bush is insane, but it makes no sense why John Kerry is following his path of being unable to accept responsibility or admit any sort of mistake, and in fact he insists on pursuing the big mistake in the face of all evidence pointing to this war being illegal, immoral and unsuccesful. Does John Kerry think that they might find the weapons on a turkey farm too?
I can’t believe that I am the only one to wonder out loud, how did John Kerry win the nomination? No one seems to agree with his ’platform’ and most people seem to be holding their noses forcing themselves to vote for him simply because he is not Bush. John Kerry cannot be the best we have to offer. Does he even represent the will of the people? I happen to know John Kerry is not the best we have to offer, because I have heard Dennis Kucinich. Dennis speaks from the heart, to the heart of the American people. Has anyone heard Kerry or Edwards speak lately? It’s the same damn platitudes, same speech as at the convention, day after day after day. It is all acting for them. I for one am sick of it and sick of them. Our country deserves better than this. Bush is the easiest candidate on earth to beat, there are many people more capable than him. The only way Bush is even in the running is that John Kerry is so bad. So how did we get stuck with Kerry, the guy who is barely better than Bush?
It might have something to do with the facist techniques of the Kerry handlers that were easily exposed at the democratic convention in Boston. I personally experienced this same type of strong arm tactics at my state convention. I would strongly encourage others who experienced this to please comment on this article. Could it be that the DLC pushed everyone around, and pushed this unworthy candidate on us? He is going to lose this election and that is hard to do. Are we really going to just sit back and watch this happen?
My suggestion is this...we hold an emergency session of the democratic delegates. No speeches, no corporate parties...just the delegates getting together to discuss the platform and the direction of our country. The delegates job at the convention was far more important than holding a sign, and yet their voices were not heard. Ninety percent of the delegates were against the war, yet had to sit through war talk from both Kerry and Edwards, without having the ability to express their own beliefs.
I believe that if the delegates were allowed to meet, discuss and write the platform it would be very different language than what we have today. I believe if they were to hear both John Kerry and Dennis Kucinich speak to them, Dennis would have the nomination in less than a minute. That is why, it seems, Kerry forced the endorsement before the convention, apparently afraid of our democracy and the power of an open mind. The majority of Americans want to end this war now, so Dennis Kucinich as our democratic nominee would currently be running away with the election. (If you throw in there how many millions of Americans would vote for universal health care it would be all over)
Why don’t we have a candidate that speaks for the majority of the American people? If we do not, how can we claim ourselves a great democracy and propose to spread it to other countries?
