Orwellian Australia, a world leading greenhouse gas (GHG) polluter, falsely asserts that “More is less”, “Non-renewables are renewables”, “Inaction is action” and “Gas is clean energy” - turning the truth on its head Downunder.
Australia is a world leader in annual per capita GHG pollution and natural gas exports and is the world’s leading coal exporter. Australia is also dominated by powerful corporations linked to this orgy of Planet-killing GHG pollution. The horrible reality is that (…)

The Age of Space-Solar Energy: Innovation in the Public Interest
17 May 2010 par (Open-Publishing)
The industrial revolution has been driven for the past two centuries by the burning of hydrocarbons, first by coal in the Age of Steam, and then by oil and natural gas in the Age of Petroleum; however, as the flow of these fossil fuels slows down as demand goes up, ever-more-intrusive and massive extraction efforts increasingly threaten the progress of industrialization and the civilization it has produced.
The catastrophic Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is the latest (…) -
The fuel of sanity
25 April 2010 par (Open-Publishing)
Dear friends,
I have just read an article regarding the water/sanitation crisis in Gaza ( http://electronicintifada.net/v2/article11064.shtml ) caused by the fuel crisis resulting from the EMBARGO.
Without fuel, the electric power grid is down and the generators and drainage pumps cannot provide water.
This situation is threatening the survival of the people. All these oil producers, all these international agencies and great lectures on "Water for All" are unable or unwilling to (…) -
Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) is NOT "clean energy": Oz Labor contrary claims mean Voters must Put Labor Last
5 April 2010 par (Open-Publishing)
Combustion of Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) yields the Humanity- and Biosphere-threatening greenhouse gas (GHG) carbon dioxide (CO2) and accordingly LNG is not “clean energy” as incorrectly asserted by corporations and politicians promoting the use of this dirty, CO2-polluting fossil fuel.
Rational risk management (that, for example, has made passenger aviation extremely safe) successively involves (a) accurate data, (b) scientific analysis (this involving critical testing of potentially (…) -
British Gas, worst place to work…in Algeria!
7 February 2010 par (Open-Publishing)
2 commentsDays ago, while I was surfing the net, I came across this info about British Gas. It says that, for 5 consecutive years, British Gas is ranked among the top 50 places to work in UK. The ranking was based on a survey among British Gas employees. Considering the results, one would think it must be great to work for this company… not so sure, I thought…not in Algeria at least.
Obviously, those who rewarded British Gas didn’t know about the case of Meriem Mehdi. This Algerian woman was an (…) -
"LNG = clean energy" Greenhouse Gas Untruth makes the Australian Apartheid Labor Party Unfit to Govern
7 February 2010 par (Open-Publishing)
The extreme right wing, pro-war, pro-coal, human rights-abusing, spin-driven Australian Labor Government has repeatedly declared that it is instituting an “education revolution”.
However a key element of the teaching and learning process called “education” is correct information (I must note here that this is my 5th decade of teaching science students at a leading Australian university and that, unlike most of my colleagues, I have a postgraduate qualification in teaching in Higher (…) -

There is evidence that the United States found oil in Haiti decades ago and due to the geopolitical circumstances and big business interests of that era made the decision to keep Haitian oil in reserve for when Middle Eastern oil had dried up.

Good and Bad Choices for Energy Policy and the Environmental Movement -2009-2010 ( 2)
By Morton S. Skorodin, M.D. Axis of Logic Exclusive Axis of Logic Tuesday, Nov 3, 2009
(Boston) Two energy/environment phenomena are being widely discussed currently. These are global warming, and its mitigation, and the nuclear resurgence – the worldwide push to supply power with nuclear power plants. Careful study of these issues leads to the following conclusions:
1. Global warming is real and (…) -

At a press conference, on Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, activists demanded that the Baltimore Gas & Electric Company (BGE), roll back its electric rates to 2006 levels and for it to grant “immediate rate relief.” BGE is a subsidiary of Constellation Energy, (CE). The event was held in front of the office of the Public Service Commission, a state regulatory agency located in Baltimore, MD. The “Maryland Coalition for BGE Reregulation” sponsored the press conference. Leo Burroughs is one of its (…)

$21 Billion Orbiting Solar Array will Beam Electricity to Earth
September 15th, 2009 by Lin Edwards
The Japanese are preparing to develop a two trillion yen (approximately $21 billion USD) space solar project that will beam electricity from space in the form of microwaves or lasers to around 300,000 homes in Japan within three decades. The project, to be undertaken by a research group from 16 companies including Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd, aims to spend the next four years (…)
