Most members of Congress have ceased to function as serious legislators. They simply walk through the motions, collect their checks and then vote as the White House tells them they must.
This is not a complaint merely about most Republicans in the House and Senate - whose unwavering allegiance to even their president’s maddest schemes mirrors that of Sancho Panza to Don Quixote. The Democrats are just about as bad, as was illustrated by their support this week of the administration’s (…)

Congress on Steroids! See No-Nonsense Representatives Get Tough on Witnesses!
19 March 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
2 commentsIn the baseball steroid hearings, we saw aggressive questioning by representatives, but when it involves anything important, like war funding or CIA torture, members of this Congress are nothing but yes-men and neutered pussycats.
If you watched or read about the Congressional hearings yesterday conducted by the House Government Reform Committee, you’d have thought Congress was a real legislature, with bulldog representatives willing to stop at nothing to get at the truth.
There was Rep. (…) -
17 TECHNIQUES FOR TRUTH SUPPRESSION
18 March 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
3 commentsStrong, credible allegations of high-level criminal activity can bring down a government. When the government lacks an effective, fact-based defense, other techniques must be employed. The success of these techniques depends heavily upon a cooperative, compliant press and a mere token opposition party.
1. Dummy up. If it’s not reported, if it’s not news, it didn’t happen.
2.Wax indignant. This is also known as the "how dare you?" gambit.
3.Characterize the charges as "rumors" or, (…) -
Tactic: Appeal To The Listeners’ Deepest Fears
18 March 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
2 commentsTactic: Appeal To The Listeners’ Deepest Fears Tom Ball March 17, 2005 I can’t tell you how many times we’ve seen this tactic overplayed since Bush came into office. In fact, I think it’s his favorite — ironically striking terror into the minds of the populace with warnings of...well...terrorism. But who should we really fear?
Technique: Appeal to the listeners’ deepest fears and most irrational hopes while playing to their most simplistic beliefs. Arouse fear of what might happen if (…) -
Bush Lipsynchs his ENTIRE press conference
17 March 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
5 commentsGeorge W. Bush made history today.
He gave the first Presidential press conference in which every single word he spoke was fed to him through his earpiece.
How do I know?
Forget the famous debate bulge photos - we’ll never see the likes of those again. First, the White House will never again permit a camera behind his back which might take tell-tale photos. Second, the gadget wizards at the CIA have come up with a far less conspicuous gadget. Third, they found a new tailor who can hide (…) -
WANTED: 250,000 Americans to Fight Fake News & Government Propaganda
17 March 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
1 commentThe Center for Media and Democracy is working with Free Press to gather a quarter million signatures on our petition mobilizing the American public to fight fake news and government propaganda. On Sunday, the New York Times reported that at least 20 federal agencies have made and distributed pre-packaged, ready-to-serve television news segments to promote President Bush’s policies and initiatives. Congress’ Government Accountability Office determined that these "video news releases" were (…)

Karl Rove Seen At Homosexual Orgies In Washington

11 commentsKarl Rove Seen At Homosexual Orgies In Washington Tom Flocco - Conspiracy Planet Introduction - March 16, 2005
They say that there is no smoke without fire and stories linking senior members of the Bush administration with homosexual circles continue to circulate. Coupled with the Gannon/Guckert affair and the ’Desperate Wives’ interview with Kay Griggs it is symptomatic of a much deeper malaise. Widespread and profligate homosexuality seems to be a characteristic of cultures in terminal (…) -

Congressman Charles Rangel at Saint Luke’s African Methodist Episcopal Church, NYC 3/12/05
16 March 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
1 commentA transcription of the first twenty-five minutes of the Congressman’s speech given on Saturday March 12, 2005, 2:30 p.m. at St. Luke’s AME Church, located on 1872 Amsterdam Ave., NYC.
Mr. Rangel is a gifted orator. The audience was receptive and engaged. During the question and answer phase, there were no questions regarding the West Side Stadium for which the Congressman is now on record as supporting.

US Congress’ approval rating on the slide
15 March 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
5 commentsFewer Americans approve of the way Congress is handling its job than at any time since shortly after Republicans impeached President Clinton, a Gallup Poll finds.
Only 37% of Americans gave Congress a high approval rating, down from 45% last month, the poll taken last week showed. A total of 53% disapproved, up from 48% in February.
It was the worst showing for Congress since September 1999, the year after the Republican-controlled House of Representatives impeached Clinton.
Even then, (…)
