Today we all saw Condi Rice speak at the U.N. and propose the WEAK resolution (which passed 15-0 in favor), for cessation of hostilities and the influx of approx. 20,000 Lebanese troops to control South Lebanon.

Just as simple as that.
So what comes next? There is NO timeline for disarming or even for (…)

Olmert cannot remain in the prime minister’s office
11 August 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
2 commentsBy Ari Shavit
Ehud Olmert may decide to accept the French proposal for a cease-fire and unconditional surrender to Hezbollah. That is his privilege. Olmert is a prime minister whom journalists invented, journalists protected, and whose rule journalists preserved. Now the journalists are saying run away. That’s legitimate. Unwise, but legitimate.
However, one thing should be clear: If Olmert runs away now from the war he initiated, he will not be able to remain prime minister for even one (…) -

Mabruk, Israel

Israel had been a temporary state until 1967. After the decisive victory in that war, it stopped being one, but - and I say this in sorrow - it has failed to internalize that fact.
The main difference between a regular state and a temporary one is that the latter does not believe it can survive a military defeat.
And here we are, a month after Israel declared war on Lebanon, and regardless of the circumstances and conditions of the declaration, a military defeat is (…) -

Considering the shocking news on the growing humanitarian catastrophe the ongoing battles in South Lebanon and the air rides on civilian targets in almost all parts of Lebanon create for the people of that country,

On August 12, tens of thousands are marching: Stop the War on Lebanon and Palestine!
11 August 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
Even at this last moment, organizers around the country are scrambling to find more buses to bring the thousands of people who are coming to Washington on August 12. The people of Lebanon must see that the people of the United States are standing with them against the brutal and barbaric assault on their country and their families.
The Israeli government has approved a massive ground invasion. Thousands more are likely to die as Bush and the Israeli government pursue the fantasy that they (…)
