Christian right steps up pro-Israel lobbying By Bill Berkowitz Online Journal Guest Writer
Aug 4, 2006, 00:09
Over the past two decades, as the Christian Right has grown in political power in the United States, there has been parallel growth in support for Israel. A number of organizations made up of conservative evangelical and Jewish leaders have been founded, and millions of dollars have been raised and donated to charities in Israel.
Now, a new group plans to take it up a notch, (…)

Robert Fisk Thinks there will be another 9/11
5 August 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
4 commentsAnd all across the Muslim world, "we" - the West, America, Israel - are fighting not nationalists but Islamists. And watching the martyrdom of Lebanon this week - its slaughtered children in Qana packed into plastic bags until the bags ran out and their corpses had to be wrapped in carpets - a terrible and daunting thought occurs to me, day by day. That there will be another 9/11.

’The US is the kiss of death’ in the Arab world
5 August 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
1 commentWASHINGTON - After almost four weeks of fighting between Lebanon’s Hezbollah militia and Israel, the US administration’s ambitions to transform the Arab Middle East into a pro-Western, more democratic region are fading fast.
Not only is Washington’s thus far staunch support for Israel losing Arab "hearts and minds" at an astonishing pace, but the "moderate" governments and non-governmental forces the administration had hoped would act as catalysts for reform are increasingly isolated (…) -
Islamist militants from SE Asia joining anti-Israeli missions
5 August 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
More than 200 Islamic militants from Southeast Asia have been sent on missions to attack Israel’s interests and countries that support the Jewish state, their leader said yesterday.
The fighters have been trained to carry out suicide bombings to avenge Israeli military strikes on the Palestinian territories and Lebanon, according to Suaib Didu, chairman of the Jakarta-based ASEAN Muslim Youth Movement (AMYM).
"We will limit our targets to Israel’s vital interests and those that support (…) -

1 commentNot even the redoubtable Roman Legions occupied as many countries or had as much raw killing power as does the "Best Military in the World" (our own definition)that of the United States of America.
Listening to our generals and admirals one soon finds out that no armed forces on the planet are as brave or intelligent or well trained as we are. Everybody knows that.
Don’t they?
We have thousands of expensive jet fighters and bombers which can smash whole neighborhoods to smoldering (…) -

Chronicle of a premeditated massacre?
Written by Michael Warschawski
Monday, 31 July 2006
The following article was written 30 July at 6.00 a.m., an hour before the announcement of the tragic news of the Qana massacre on Israeli radio. Unfortunately, the massacre was already visible in the content of my writing even before hearing the terrible news:
“In these wars, lives of civilians are not only of very limited value, like in any other war, but considered as a legitimate target, (…) -

World oil prices could reach $200 per barrel if the United States pursues international sanctions against Iran, an Iranian official warned on Thursday.
"The first consequence of these sanctions would be an increase in the price of oil to around $200 per barrel,” Iran’s Foreign Relations Vice Minister Manuchehr Mohammadi told Venezuelan state television. (…) -
Kevin Zeese Challenges Rep. Cardin on Israel
4 August 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
"Time’s glory is to unmask falsehood and bring truth to light." - William Shakespeare
In an action unprecedented in Maryland politics, Kevin Zeese, an Independent candidate in Maryland for the U.S. Senate, has demanded that an incumbent congressman, who has close ties to the powerful Israel Lobby, break his silence on Israeli wrongdoing. In one of his four “Open Letters” to Rep. Ben Cardin (D-MD), dated July 17, 2006, Zeese requested that the “ardent supporter” of Israel end “his sin of (…) -
The most unsuccessful war
4 August 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
By Ze’ev Sternhell
No situation can continue to exist for long without an ideological reason. That’s how when once it was clear that it was not achieving its aims, an unsuccessful military campaign was upgraded with the wave of a magic wand to the level of a war of survival. When everyone understood that a moral reason had to be found both for the dimensions of the destruction sowed in Lebanon and the killing of the civilian population there, and for the Israeli dead and wounded (nobody is (…) -
STOP THE SLAUGHTER! ISRAEL OUT OF LEBANON! STOP ROCKET ATTACKS ON ISRAELI CIVILIANS!
4 August 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
The hundreds of civilian casualties and the vast destruction of the infrastructure of Lebanon’s economic and social life by the Israeli armed forces is provoking world-wide indignation and anger. And so it should!
Does Israel have a right to defend itself from those whose stated political and military objective is to wipe out the Jewish nation? Yes, it has. But, apart from any other considerations, the disparity of power as between Israel and Lebanon, and Israel and the Palestinians, is (…)
