Countdown to a Showdown More than 100 cities mobilizing for Sept. 15 March on Washington and An Important Appeal from an Iraq War Veteran
We are in a countdown to a showdown and Bush is scrambling to beat back the anti-war opposition that is dominating the country.
He and the neocons are betting that their propaganda blitz preceding the September 15 showdown will force the Democrats to capitulate once again.

Published on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 by Kristol: Another Dishonorable Chicken-hawk by Cindy Sheehan
I know just a little bit about Mr. William Kristol:
He is the son of one of the founders of the “neo-conservative” movement, Irving Kristol .
He is a commentator on Fox News.
He was Chief of Staff for one of the political “geniuses” of our time: VP Dan Quayle.
He is editor of another Rupert Murdoch war-propaganda rag, “The Weekly Standard.”
He is a member, and signer, of the (…) -
Democracy, Not Agents Provocateurs (video)

I am disgusted, but not surprised, that police agent provocateurs attempted to discredit the peaceful demonstrations at the North American summit in Montebello, Quebec.
I was at the Seattle WTO meeting in 1999 as an accredited observer, and I followed the events there closely. Although that event is always referred to in the media as "the battle of Seattle" and the epitome of violence, the only violence on the part of the hundreds of (…) -

In case you haven’t heard, last night Kansas Representative Dennis Moore and Kansas Senator Pat Roberts met for a little "kaffeeklatch" at Johnson County Community College (JCCC) near Kansas City, Kansas. It was an attempt at bipartisanship - - a blue dog Dem talking with a Repub - - trying to make all the problems go away. They sat and talked about nothing for about an hour and a half. They took questions from the audience that were written on (…) -

By Gabriele Zamparini
As everybody else I fell in love with the classic Manufacturing Consent, the propaganda model proposed by Edward Herman and Noam Chomsky almost twenty years ago, as soon as I read it.
The following I believe is an interesting case I would like to submit to the attention of my readers, including Noam Chomsky and Edward Herman.

Of Marx, Christ, and the Persecution of Radicals: How Will Humanity Survive the Capitalist Threat?

By Jason Miller
A few days ago, one of my closest friends hit me with a heavily loaded question.
“Are you a Communist?” she queried.
To which I replied:
I do not belong nor militate in any formal communist party in the U.S. Nor do I belong to any other political entity or party. Furthermore, I do not subscribe to a specific doctrine, ideology, or dogma. My allegiance is to my core principles and values, which are premised on honesty, justice, humanity, responsibility, critical (…) -

Truckloads of seismic data relevant to nuclear waste dumping destroyed in Germany
20 August 2007 par (Open-Publishing)
By Diet Simon
Anti-nuclear activists fighting waste dumping in north Germany claim to have information from inside the industry that “truckloads” of safety-relevant information have been destroyed.
The group opposes the ‘interim’ storage of highly radioactive waste in a light-construction hall and the later ‘final’ storage in a specially dug salt mine next door at the village of Gorleben, between Hanover and Hamburg.
The media spokesman of the Bürgerinitiative Umweltschutz Lüchow (…) -
