Expert: FISA bill is ’frightening’ ACLU and Ron Paul team up to protest FISA in effort called ’Strange Bedfellows.’
At the rate things are going, a viable alternative to the "major" parties is desperately needed, and effective communications with the public even more so. The Longhouse Coalition, the Green Party, and the Libertarian Party are all available to a public that never hears much about any of them.
Thanks largely to a (…) -

Let us act to lift the blockade on the population of Ifni.

Chomsky and Newman - The False Debate
15 June 2008 par (Open-Publishing)
1 commentIn preparing for my recent interview with Kevin Barrett on June 6, since I knew he wanted to talk about Noam Chomsky, I had the dubious pleasure of reviewing my own correspondence (1989-1995) with the man who seems to have become, in addition to the world’s most famous linguist and leftist dissident, the most famous "left gatekeeper." I may have had more than a little to do with that, since I published three articles based on our correspondence (and his book Rethinking Camelot), and (…)

Anti-war protesters banned from demonstrating against Bush
11 June 2008 par (Open-Publishing)
London police have announced a ban on anti-war campaigners hoping to protest against President George Bush’s visit to Downing Street this Sunday. The Whitehall ban has been immediately condemned as a "totalitarian act" by the playwright Harold Pinter, while Stop the War organisers are urging people to defy it and to demonstrate nearby in Parliament Square.
"In what is supposed to be a free country the Stop the War Coalition has every right to express its views peacefully and openly. This (…) -
isms and archys
8 June 2008 par (Open-Publishing)
I’ve been mulling over the concept of ’isms’. Communism, socialism, fascism, capitalism. Oligarchy, monarchy, you get the idea. It seems depending on who you ask, somebody somewhere will always have a problem with any major ism you bring up. There is plenty to criticize with capitalism, particularly in the form we have it now. It is wholly unethical no-holds barred cutthroat capitalism, not much different in practice than crime. That goes without saying for all of the archys too.
I’ll (…) -
Intellectual Violence
8 June 2008 par (Open-Publishing)
By Angie Riedel 06/06/08 "ICH" — - Something I’ve learned over the last few years is that there really is such a thing as evil in this world. True, sheer evil.
I’ve also learned that all evil is perpetrated by force; and that can be physical violence or it can be intellectual violence, i.e. by deceit and deception. Lies. Lies are every bit as much a form of violence as guns, clubs and bombs because just like physical violence, lies are used to violate someone else’s free will and free (…) -
Industrial relations : what are they?
4 June 2008 par (Open-Publishing)
The widely accepted definition of industrial relations as the study of job regulation emphasises an interpretation of work issues being primarily about solving a ‘problem of order’, thus concealing the centrality of power, conflict and instability in Industrial Relations processes and prioritising the aim of maintaining order with the rhetoric of avoiding conflict.
Two perspectives on industrial relations represent contrasting views on organisational interests and authority and preferred (…)
