Singer sticks to Moore praise

SINGER Linda Ronstadt will continue to praise Michael Moore and his film
Fahrenheit 9/11 on stage, despite an angry reaction at a Las Vegas concert.

"This is an election year," she told the Los Angeles Times.

"I want people to get their head up out of their mashed potatoes and
learn something about the issues and go and vote.

"I’m not telling them how to vote. I’m saying, get information about the
issues."

When Ronstadt praised Moore and his documentary on Saturday at the
Aladdin hotel-casino, some in the audience stormed out of the theatre
and tore down concert posters.

The casino’s president said he did not allow the singer back in her
luxury suite and she was escorted off the property after calling Moore a
"great American patriot" during a prelude to her encore.

Ronstadt, 58, told the Times her remarks were "modest", adding: "They
didn’t throw me out."

"I didn’t even know there was trouble," she said.

"Those places operate like little city-states. They are all-powerful.
And I had already said I never want to come back."

One of the partners buying the hotel-casino said Ronstadt would be
welcome to return after his management team took over the bankrupt
property as early as September.

"We respect artists’ creativity and support their rights to express
themselves," Planet Hollywood CEO Robert Earl said today.

He said he would like to take Moore up on the filmmaker’s offer to join
Ronstadt on stage to sing America the Beautiful.

In Los Angeles, there were about 100 calls for refunds for Ronstadt’s
performance at the Universal Amphitheatre on Tuesday night. (AP)

  • Interesting article. Nicely written.

Is it possible people do not want to hear about a film that calls
the President of the United States stupid, a murder,
a liar, someone who stole the election, someone who knocked
down the towers among other charges. This is ESPECIALLY
when their paying for this “Entertainment”.

There’s a time and place for everything. Linda praising
Michael Moore during a live non-political concert, a paying
audience, is neither the right time nor place.

63 Adda-boys for The Aladdin. They have my business for here on out.

    Thank you,

  • There will always be that underground element in America which clamors for a dictatorial, cruel and facist society because of their personal selfishness, cowardice and stupidity. Examples of this are the casino owner in the article and the raving behavior of the poster who supports him. This type of arrogance arises from stupidity. A small group of Americans stubbornly continue trying to protect their lack of education and viciousness with claims of "patriotism" and obsequious support of political criminals.
