A few weeks ago there was a story in Israel’s leading Newspaper the Haaretz:
Iranian official: UN sanctions may lead us to seal off Persian Gulf
Iran has the high mountains north of the narrow Straits of Hormuz, and if provoked, they can shut off all oil from the Middle East. What do you think that would do to our economy?
Naturally, our Congress voted 404 - 4 to refer Iran to the UN Security Council. Are they trying to start a war?
404 -4 .... INCLUDING most of the leading (…)

SCARING PEOPLE SILLY

By Peter Fredson
February 22, 2006
People wearing bed sheets, Frankenstein masks, triangular black hats, try to scare people on Halloween. They say “Trick or Treat” hoping to get candy.
When I was young if you didn’t get candy, or sometimes just for the hell of it, some rowdy young people would toilet-paper the yard, empty garbage cans on the porch, and in the countryside they would turn over an outhouse. But, except for some fundamentalists already terrified of (…) -
An Israeli’s View Of Dead Eye Dick Cheney
22 February 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
This article by Yossi Sarid appeared briefly on the electronic pages of Ha’aretz’s English web site on the morning of February 19, 2006. It was then taken down for unexplained reasons, although the reader can guess that it was "disappeared" because of Sarid’s scathing indictment of the "crack shot" Vice President of the United States, whom he decides is "the most terrible and repulsive politician in all of the world." A must read for Cheney fans.

PORTO ALEGRE, Brazil - A coalition of American churches sharply denounced the U.S.-led war in Iraq on Saturday, accusing Washington of "raining down terror" and apologizing to other nations for "the violence, degradation and poverty our nation has sown."
The statement, issued at the largest gathering of Christian churches in nearly a decade, also warned the United States was pushing the world toward environmental catastrophe (…) -
UN Human Rights Chief in Iraq: US is "Aware" of Torture in Iraqi Prisons
22 February 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
2 commentsThe US is "aware" of torture taking place in Iraqi prisons, according to the outgoing Maltese UN human rights chief in Iraq.
"Yes, torture is happening now, mainly in illegal detention places. Such centres are mostly being run by militia that have been absorbed by the police force," says John Pace, who retired last week as human rights chief for the UN assistance mission in Iraq.
In a frank interview with The Times, Dr Pace says photos and forensic records have proved that torture was (…) -
WHY DOES MARY MATALIN DEFEND WAR CRIMINAL CHENEY ?
21 February 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
3 commentsI know the the easy answer is "money". I believe that the monies generated from the Carville/Matalin " Mutt and Jeff" Show have accrued sufficent funds to provide for themselves and their sacred posterity -well into the 23 rd Century ! Cheney , apart from his hobby of getting liquored up and shooting friends at close range, is reknowned to be quite the nasty bastard. When Ronald Reagan deployed paramilitary death squads to Honduras ,El Salavador, or Nicauragua he did so (…)

Skull and Bones- The Secret Society that has Destroyed America

6 commentsKEVIN PHILLIPS: Well, this gets complicated because nobody quite agrees when the intelligence agencies started. But Yale was front and center, because the statue that’s in front of the C.I.A. is Nathan Hail. Nathan Hail’s statue that they copied that from appears in front of Connecticut Hall at Yale in New Haven. So, if you go back to the revolution you have Yale and the Secret Service.
AMY GOODMAN: It goes back to Andover where Bush went as well.
KEVIN PHILLIPS: Andover was really in (…) -

2 commentsImagine, if you will — being in a flight from North Africa for 10+ hours, after spending a family vacation there.
Imagine, if you will — being detained by U.S. Immigration and Naturalization officials at a U.S. airport while trying to a catch a connecting flight to Canada.
Imagine, if you will, being interrogated by the U.S. officials for well over a week. You’re connecting flight is now a distant memory.
Imagine, if you will, that those U.S. officials are convinced that you have (…)
