"All war is based on deception." Sun Tzu, The Art of War
There is nothing new in a government lying to their people to start a war. Indeed because most people prefer living in peace to bloody and horrific death in war, any government that desires to initiate a war usually lies to their people to create the illusion that support for the war is the only possible choice they can make.

10 commentsPresident George W. Bush has got a very serious problem. Before asking Congress for a joint resolution authorizing the use of U.S. military forces in Iraq, he made a number of unequivocal statements about the reason the United States needed to pursue the most radical actions any nation can undertake — acts of war against another nation.
Now it is clear that many of his statements appear to be false. In the past, Bush’s White House has been very good at sweeping ugly issues like this under (…) -

2 commentsThe US Labor Force: One Foot In The Third World Paul Graig Roberts June 8, 2005 In May the Bush economy eked out a paltry 73,000 private sector jobs: 20,000 jobs in construction (primarily for Mexican immigrants), 21,000 jobs in wholesale and retail trade, and 32,500 jobs in health care and social assistance. Local government added 5,000 for a grand total of 78,000. Not a single one of these jobs produces an exportable good or service. With Americans increasingly divorced from the (…)

2 commentsTorture’s Part Of The Territory Naomi Klein June 07, 2005 Brace yourself for a flood of gruesome new torture snapshots. Last week, a federal judge ordered the Defense Department to release dozens of additional photographs and videotapes depicting prisoner abuse at Abu Ghraib.
The photographs will elicit what has become a predictable response: Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld will claim to be shocked and will assure us that action is already being taken to prevent such abuses from (…) -

1 commentBlaming the Messenger Fools No One Robert Scheer June 07, 2005 On Sunday, the Iraqi government announced that Saddam Hussein would be charged with crimes going back to the 1982 killings of almost 160 men in the Shiite village of Dujail.
The evidence will come in no small measure from reports by Amnesty International and other human rights groups published before and during the United States’ semi-secret alliance with Hussein in the 1980s.
This unsavory partnership with Hussein was (…) -

The Impeachability of the Bush Administration
13 June 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
2 commentsIntroduction First off, I’d like to start by saying that this isn’t about impeaching Bush. The subject is clearly about the Impeachment of the Administration. The entire administration, even those who we may find more politically palatable than the rest, need to go given the recent findings in the numerous leaked minutes, reports and internal secret communications of the British government.
Secondly, it is obvious, someone high up in the British government has the moral fortitude, bravery (…)
