As a Republican, I can now proudly — indeed, defiantly — pledge to (…)

George W. Bush, during his press conference with Tony Blair, 6/7/05 said, “Saddam would not comply.” (Comply to what? We are never told! But apparently whatever he did not comply to was important enough to start a war over but not important enough to ever explain to the world!)
After a single question about the Downing Street Memo (with no follow up) was asked, (in between the questions about Africa - the American media suddenly discovered (…) -
Something Rotten in Ohio
10 June 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
Outside the oil and gas junta that controls two and a half branches of our government (the half soon to be whole is the judiciary), there was a good deal of envy at the late British election among those Americans who are serious about politics. 2 commentsIt is not that often, we have to admit, that an item posted one night on Times Online is still getting hundreds of thousands of hits six weeks later, especially when what bloggers like to call ’the mainstream media’ have largely ignored its existence.
NI_MPU(’middle’);But that is what happened to the now infamous secret Downing Street memo, posted on the site on May 1 alongside a story by Michael Smith of The Sunday Times. And if the document has taken on a life of its own it is largely (…) -

SCOOP EDITOR’S NOTE: The following is a transcript of another document leaked to the media concerning the build up to the Iraq war. It concerns a discussion in early 2002 between the UK Ambassador to the US and then Deputy Defence Secretary Paul Wolfowitz.

US Troops Cannot Stop Saddam-Friendly Clans In Triangle Of Death Edited By Rob Gibran June 05, 2005
Attempts by 40,000 U.S. and Iraqi troops to close off Baghdad from armed groups is destined to fail, according to Iraqi sources, because of a series of roads loosely referred to as the "Mujahedeen Road." These access routes are often controlled by tribal clans that once formed part of Saddam’s protective shield. The road that connects Baghdad with Iraq’s southern cities passes through what (…) -
