Celebrate May Day, the international day of the
worker, in NYC’s historic Union Square Park. This
concert will feature music and poetry, traditional
and new, in an open-air setting in the shadow
of Gandhi’s statue. May Day is the people’s
holiday, founded by radical Labor activists in
1886. Though the first May Day was held in the
USA, our government has consistently attempted to
"disappear" it due to its inherent militancy. But
the movement will not let it die---May Day is
celebrated globally and many Americans continue
this tradition as well. Come out on May Day and
hear the songs and poems of Labor, protest, pride
and resistance.

An art exhibit by Boston artist Chris Janning
sponsored by ’Dancing in the Streets’ will also
be in the immediate stage area.
