On Sept. 14, the US House of Representatives passed, 223-199, the ominous federal “anti-hate” bill, the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2005. It was inserted as AMDT.2662 into the Children’s Safety Act. If approved unaltered by the senate judiciary, this legislation is ready for the President to sign into law.
Here is a summary of what the bill would make law:
Although AMDT.2662 ostensibly empowers the government to assist states in prosecution of (…)

Bill Frist, The Former 2008 Presidential Candidate
27 September 2005By Jason Leopold
It’s one thing to lie in politics. It’s another to be caught in a lie. Bill Frist has been caught in a lie. His political future is over. The immediate question is, can he survive as Majority Leader?
The Tennessee Republican claims he wasn’t privy to any inside information leading up to the sale of his stock in Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), the country’s largest for-profit hospital chain founded by Frist’s father, Thomas, and brother, Thomas Jr., weeks before (…) -
What a Difference Welfare Mongers Make in a Hurricane now, and years ago
27 September 2005The Difference In People... what a crying shame...
This is very interesting. How much the people’s attitude can change in 78 years? In 1927, a major, unnamed hurricane struck the city of New Orleans. It was actually more powerful than Katrina. The scope of damage was much more severe because this particular hurricane actually hit the city. Katrina missed it by 25 miles.
The interesting difference is the response the government gave in 1927 to those hurricane refugees, compared to the (…) -
How stupid can you be, arresting Cindy Sheehan while the whole world is watching?
27 September 2005Does having Cindy Sheehan arrested and hauled off to the pokey to be photographed and finger-printed make you feel like a man, Dubya? Is this payback for Cindy’s Camp Casey in Crawford?
Better pour yourself another drink, George. Maybe pop some more pills, too. You’re gonna need ’em.
Nothing can ignite our determination to rid our country of you and your band of criminals than seeing a mother, who opposed your illegal war before her son died in it and who wants all the killing stopped, (…) -
Top Democrats Flee Peace Protests
27 September 2005I have been thinking for a while now that the Democrats really should sit down and consider changing their mascot from a donkey to a marmot. A rodent really is more emblematic of their provincial habits than a donkey could ever be. Think about it. Just this past weekend, antiwar rallies were held across the country, and the Democratic leadership was nowhere in sight. They had high-tailed it out of there. They hid in their holes and were afraid to be seen.
In all fairness, a few elected (…) -
IRREDUCIBLE COMPLEXITY

This morning I awoke at exactly 6:45 a.m., got up from bed, stubbed my toe on a chair, went to toilet at exactly 6:47, washed my hands at 6:48, went to the kitchen for a cup of tea but found the tea canister empty so had to go to the refrigerator. I found the milk carton with only half a glass of skim milk, drank it with my pills, opened the kitchen window to let a breeze in, listened to a bird warbling, then went back to the (…) -

The DaVinci Code Recoded: How to stop Hollywood from stealing your mind
26 September 2005by Judy Hodgkiss
Producer/director Ron Howard is now bringing to the screen, Dan Brown’s best-selling novel, The Da Vinci Code. With 25 million copies in print, internationally, the book has been breaking all records for adult fiction, even though the only version available is a hardback, selling for $24.95 a copy. And there are no plans for Doubleday to bring out a paperback version any time soon, since sales are only expected to climb, as the publicity for the movie kicks in.

Cindy Sheehan Arrested During Anti-War Protest
26 September 2005WASHINGTON - Cindy Sheehan, the California woman who has used her son’s death in Iraq to spur the anti-war movement, was arrested Monday while protesting outside the White House.
Sheehan and several dozen other protesters sat down on the sidewalk after marching along the pedestrian walkway on Pennsylvania Avenue. Police warned them three times that they were breaking the law by failing to move along, then began making arrests.
Sheehan, 48, was the first taken into custody. She stood up (…) -
A WHIFF OF TURD
26 September 2005A WHIFF OF TURD
By Peter Fredson
September 26, 2005
Yesterday I returned from a walk around the block, turned on my TV and saw a blurry picture of Cindy Sheehan, with muffled sound. The picture was shot from below the lady, perhaps surreptitiously, at a bad angle. I could not make out what Ms. Sheehan said.
Then the picture changed. A woman was shown in full clarity, with full clear sound and from the front. The contrast between presentation of the two speakers was remarkable, and (…)
