Many Americans would like to see George Bush impeached, but the U.S. Constitution also provides other machinery for removing him from office. That would be the 25th Amendment, proposed by Congress and enacted after the Kennedy assassination. It provides for the orderly removal of a President if he becomes disabled to the degree that he cannot fulfull his responsiblities. Go here for the text of the Amendment and annotations: (…)

Open Letter to Howard Dean: Now is the Time
10 September 2005Dr. Dean: Now it the time. Commander Bunny pants has shown his gross incompetence racism and cronyism clearly and publicly. Now is the time for REAL DEMOCRATIC OPPOSITION to stand up and speak clearly.
When the fascist corporatists sign bills removing wage protection from relief efforts Where is the Democratic Response?
When the cronies are exposed as the embezzlers and frauds that they are WHERE IS THE DEMOCRATIC RESPONSE?
When the Radical Rights’s policies run their course and FEMA (…) -
With the poor gone, developers are planning to gentrify New Orleans
10 September 2005by Naomi Klein
On September 4, six days after Katrina hit, I saw the first glimmer of hope. "The people of New Orleans will not go quietly into the night, scattering across this country to become homeless in countless other cities while federal relief funds are funnelled into rebuilding casinos, hotels, chemical plants. We will not stand idly by while this disaster is used as an opportunity to replace our homes with newly built mansions and condos in a gentrified New Orleans."

The time to act is now. Bush Administration must be prosecuted
10 September 2005by Viggo Mortensen
In the often and rightly quoted words of Bill Clinton, "There’s nothing wrong with America that can’t be fixed by what’s right with America." We see now how individuals and groups around the country continue to act in any way they can to help their fellow citizens in Louisiana, Mississippi and other devastated places near the Gulf of Mexico. They refuse to stand idly by and wait for President Bush and his morally-bankrupt, pirate administration to respond in an (…) -
German Plane With Katrina Aid Turned Back
10 September 2005BERLIN - A German military plane carrying 15 tons of military rations for survivors of Hurricane Katrina was sent back by U.S. authorities, officials said Saturday.
The plane was turned away Thursday because it did not have the required authorization, a German government spokesman said.
The spokesman, speaking on customary condition of anonymity, declined to comment on a report in the German news magazine Der Spiegel that U.S. authorities refused the delivery on the grounds that the NATO (…) -

How We Survived the Flood
By CHARMAINE NEVILLE
Charmaine Neville is a member of the third generation of New Orleans’s legendary Neville musical family. She fronts the Charmaine Neville Band.
This is a transcript of an interview Charmaine Neville, of New Orleans’s legendary Neville family, gave to New Orleans media outlets on Monday, September 5. I was in my house when everything first started. When the hurricane came, it blew all the left side of (…) -
Summary: Bush Administration Negligence in New Orleans
10 September 2005(I’ve compiled, in one place, evidence from mainstream news sources and credible witnesses showing how bad the federal government’s response to the New Orleans disaster really is. This article will be updated daily to include the latest developments.
I focus solely on the response to the flooding, which is separate and apart from the fact that the flood would not have occurred in the first place if the administration hadn’t slashed funding for levee repairs in order to fund its adventure (…) -
FEMA, missing bodies, insurance fraud?
10 September 2005It looks like FEMA is flying out people to far away places (like Utah) and burning bodies in a flagrant attempt to depopulate the city for developers and deny insurance claims for survivors. It appears that they’ve done it before... during Hurricane Charley last year in Brother Jeb’s Florida. SEE:

THE PRICE OF SECRECY
10 September 2005By William Fisher
During 2004, the Bush Administration issued more secret court orders, spent $148 creating new classified documents for every $1 spent releasing old ones, invoked the ‘state secrets’ privilege in court cases more frequently than ever before, and received 25 per cent more requests for documents under the Freedom of Information Act.
These are among the findings of a new “Secrecy Report Card” prepared by
OpenTheGovernment.org, a coalition of organizations dedicated to (…)
