This was on the episode of BBC World News which played on a local (Philadelphia area) PBS station at 6:00 am this morning. I can’t find a stream or transcript online. It’s sitting on my TIVO right now marked do not delete but I have no way to put it onto my hard drive and no place to serve it from anyway. If you do have a recording of it, it starts about 9 minutes in. I’ve done a hand written transcript, the spelling and punctuation are mine. The bolding is also mine to emphasize what I (…)

Why did FEMA reject offers of aid from other countries?
4 September 2005WASHINGTON - In a dramatic turnabout, the United States is now on the receiving end of help from around the world as some two dozen countries offer post-hurricane assistance.
Venezuela, a target of frequent criticism by the Bush administration, offered humanitarian aid and fuel. Venezuela’s Citgo Petroleum Corp. pledged a $1 million donation for hurricane aid.
With offers from the four corners of the globe pouring in, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has decided “no offer that can (…) -
Why won’t the National Guard and Homeland Security allow the Red Cross to help in New Orleans?
4 September 2005Hurricane Katrina: Why is the Red Cross not in New Orleans? Access to New Orleans is controlled by the National Guard and local authorities and while we are in constant contact with them, we simply cannot enter New Orleans against their orders. The state Homeland Security Department had requested—and continues to request—that the American Red Cross not come back into New Orleans following the hurricane. Our presence would keep people from evacuating and encourage others to come into the (…)

Sen. Landrieu said:
“Yesterday, I was hoping President Bush would come away from his tour of the regional devastation triggered by Hurricane Katrina with a new understanding for the magnitude of the suffering and for the abject failures of the current (…) -

Bush’s Criminal Ignorance: "I don’t think anyone could have anticipated the breach of the levees."
4 September 2005by James Blitz
On Good Morning America Bush said:
"I don’t think anyone could have anticipated the breach of the levees."
BUllSHit! The simple truth is that the breach of the levees had been a prime concern as Katrina approached. This statement proves beyond doubt that George W. Bush doesn’t know what the **** is happening. This ignorance is worthy of impeachment.
Sure, I could go on and on for a lengthy article, but I’m not. Have you heard the phrase, "Stop the Presses!"
Now is (…) -
Criticism of Bush mounts as more than 10,000 feared dead
4 September 2005by Gary Younge Governor threatens looters with shoot-to-kill Relief convoys arrive after four days
George Bush arrived last night in the ravaged Gulf coast region amid mounting criticism of his handling of the crisis and a prediction by one senator that the death toll in Louisiana alone could top 10,000 people.
As thousands of people sat on the streets of New Orleans, having spent their fourth day waiting to be rescued, the city fell deeper into chaos, with gangs roaming the city and (…) -
A "floatilla of aid" TURNED BACK from New Orleans...Explain!
4 September 2005My name is Jason Robideaux, I am an attorney from Lafayette Louisiana and have dealt with all of the various law enforcement agencies in Louisiana during the past 18 years. Although I have had a positive relationship with law enforcement personnel throughout the State for many years, I regretfully have a story to share that will shake your head in disbelief about the La. Dept. of Wildlife and Fisheries.

Nero fiddled as Rome burned, 68 A.D.
3 September 2005Seems like the current President is taking a page out of Emperor Nero’s book from nearly 2,000 years ago (64 A.D.).
You see, in 64 A.D. Rome experienced a major fire throught the city under Nero’s watch. Some say he had the city set ablaze.
What do you know, there were many ambitious reconstruction projects started soon after this fire.
What was Nero doing? Performing on stage, much to the chagrin of artists and citizens alike.
But then, in the year 68 A.D. the man committed suicide. (…) -
FEMA stops a rescue convoy of 500 boats
3 September 2005by Clark Warner
This is beyond my comprehension and after spending two frustrating days trying to just get someone to let us help we’ve FINALLY been told we can conduct "renegade" boat rescues via the just concluded press conference that Gov. Blanco just held.
Why is this JUST NOW being allowed? Well let’s start from the very beginning.
On Wednesday morning a group of approximately 1,000 citizens pulling 500 boats left the Acadiana Mall in Lafayette in the early morning and headed to (…)
