Sharon’s "Courageous" Plan Bush Legitimizes Terrorism
18 April 2004So President George Bush tears up the Israeli-Palestinian peace plan and that’s okay. Israeli settlements for Jews and Jews only on the West Bank. That’s okay. Taking land from Palestinians who have owned that land for generations, that’s okay. UN Security Council Resolution 242 says that land cannot be acquired by war. Forget it. That’s okay.
Does President George Bush actually work for al-Qa’ida? What does this mean? That George Bush cares more about his re-election than he does (…) -

Sharon and Bush uphold colonialism, reject peace
18 April 2004A statement of the Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism 545 Eight Avenue, 14th Floor NE NY, NY 10018 national@cc-ds.org
The prospect of a just and lasting peace in the Middle East must not be held hostage to the personal political fates of the President of the United States or the Prime Minister of Israel. Nor can it be dictated by the two officials’ most reactionary supporters. Whatever short- term political calculations they and their advisors have made, the stance (…) -
Whose Human Rights is the Occupation Defending?
18 April 2004Oakland. Ca and Bagdad
The disaster that is the occupation of Iraq is much more than the war that plays nightly across U.S. television screens. The violence of grinding poverty, exacerbated by economic sanctions after the first Gulf War, has been deepened by the US invasion. Every day the economic policies of the occupying authorities create more hunger among Iraq’s working people, transforming them into a pool of low-wage, semi-employed labor, desperate for jobs at almost any price. The Two Elephants
18 April 2004Doomed from its inception, the Bush administration’s crusade to "liberate" Iraq has become a violent conflagration of conflicting intentions and discordant ideologies, with the casualties and the potential for disaster increasing daily. The wildfire of nationalism has begun to sweep the land, uniting Sunnis and Shiites for the first time in centuries against a common enemy, the Americans. Already, more troops are being injected into the equation, and the repeated American mantra is that we (…)
