The US Central Command has issued its investigative report on the attack on Marines at An Nasiriyah by 2 A-10 Warthogs on March 23, 2003. Initially, Americans were told, and US media reported, that the Marines died as a result of Iraqi’s pretending to surrender, and then firing on the Marines. It was then revealed that two A-10’s had attacked the Marines during the worst so-called ’friendly’ fire incident of the war. 18 Marines (…) -

Iraq will never be sorted out until Mr Blair and President Bush admit their mistakes
14 April 2004Independent
Robin Cook The coalition needs to find a model of reconstruction that gives priority to jobs in Iraq over profits in Texas. IT is almost exactly a year since a triumphalist President Bush in combat fatigues swooped on to the deck of an aircraft carrier to announce that "major combat operations" were over in Iraq. Yet for the past week television bulletins have been carrying violent images from Iraq that look suspiciously like major combat operations. Conquering Iraq (…) -

WASHINGTON - More than 60 percent of U.S. corporations didn’t pay any federal taxes for 1996 through 2000, years when the economy boomed and corporate profits soared, the investigative arm of Congress reported.
The disclosures from the General Accounting Office are certain to fuel the debate over corporate tax payments in the presidential campaign. Corporate tax receipts have shrunk markedly as a share of overall federal revenue in recent years, and were particularly (…) -

14 April 2004PRAVDA - 04/13/2004 15:31
Last week, American authorities arranged a meeting of the former Iraqi dictator with his wife.
She was the first of Hussein"s relatives to meet with the ex-leader of Iraq at a new place, at the American military base in Qatar. Accompanied by Sheikh Hamad Al-Tani, Sajida Heiralla Tuffah has arrived from Syria on his private jet in the end of March.
The outcome of their meeting turned out to be quite scandalous. Sajina claims that the person she encountered was (…) -

As a member—though not, perhaps, a representative one—of that younger group of activists who have taken an interest in the Weather Underground and in movement history in general, I’d like to weigh in in this ongoing (and I suspect never-ending) conversation.
I attended a screening of "The Weather Underground" last month at the Chicago (…) -

Our Rights Are Under Attack. The Time to Act is NOW.
The time is right for a public demonstration of historic size in support of abortion rights and reproductive freedom for all women. Our rights are under attack as they haven’t been in over a decade, and Roe v. Wade hangs by a thread in the Supreme Court.
