Israeli commando who shot six dead on ship may get ‘medal of valour’
5 June 2010Six of the nine activists killed in Monday’s raid on an aid convoy were shot by a single Israeli commando who is now being considered for a medal of valour.
Israeli reports of the likely award for the soldier — credited with saving his injured comrades as passengers attacked them with clubs, knives and even the guns they had captured from the commandos — are expected to inflame the row with Turkey over the attack on the flotilla.

Irish ship the Rachel Corrie is due to arrive in Gaza
5 June 2010The Irish aid ship, MV Rachel Corrie, is expected to arrive in Gazan territorial waters at about 0900 local time (0600 BST) on Saturday.
Israel’s foreign minister has said it will not be allowed to dock there and so far the crew have had no communication with the Israeli navy.
Nine activists died on Monday when Israeli commandos stormed another vessel in the convoy.
