On May 15, HR 2454: American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 (ACESA) was introduced in the House purportedly "To create clean energy jobs, achieve energy independence, reduce global warming pollution and transition to a clean energy economy."
In fact, it’s to let corporate polluters reap huge windfall profits by charging consumers more for energy and fuel as well as create a new bubble through carbon trading derivatives speculation. It does nothing to address (…)

The U.S. stock market again before a crash?
10 July 2009The U.S. stock market again before a crash?
F. William Engdahl
Since the beginning of this year the U.S. stock market experienced its strongest increase since 1938. Encouraged by this development is hardly noticed changes in the book stop Tung’s guidelines for banks, massive accounting tricks the banks, and the whole supported and encouraged by a hypocritical media hype of economic policy spokesman for the Obama government. Insider stock selling at record levels, and get out. This is an (…) -

China blames Xinjiang violence on outside forces
10 July 2009BEIJING, July 9 (UPI) — China’s top leadership addressed the recent ethnic violence in the northwestern province of Xinjiang Wednesday, blaming overseas groups, promising "severe punishment" for instigators and calling stability the "most important and pressing task." The emergency meeting of China’s nine-member Politburo Standing Committee was chaired by President Hu Jintao, who cut short his visit to Italy for the G8 summit because of the seriousness of the situation.
Violence erupted (…) -
So Much That’s False and Nutty
9 July 2009So Much That’s False and Nutty
As reported in The New York Times of May 5, Warren Buffett told the crowd at this year’s Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting: There is so much that’s false and nutty in modern investing practice and modern investment banking. If you just reduced the nonsense, that’s a goal you should reasonably hope for.
As we look back at the causes of the crisis approaching its second anniversary – and ahead to how investors might conduct themselves better in the future – (…) -
The American Empire Is Bankrupt
8 July 2009By Chris Hedges
This week marks the end of the dollar’s reign as the world’s reserve currency. It marks the start of a terrible period of economic and political decline in the United States. And it signals the last gasp of the American imperium. That’s over. It is not coming back. And what is to come will be very, very painful.
Barack Obama, and the criminal class on Wall Street, aided by a corporate media that continues to peddle fatuous gossip and trash talk as news while we endure the (…) -
Sick America
8 July 2009by Eric Desrosiers
In spite of all the ill spoken about it, the American health care system is even sicker than is generally believed, if only for economic reasons.
The mother of all battles began a few weeks ago in Washington over the question of reform of the American health care system. This battle is not the first; in fact, the first proposals for in-depth change go back to the Truman administration years.
As everyone knows, one of the important reasons for this desire for (…) -
If We’re Not There, Start Without US
8 July 2009By David Glenn Cox
It is well-documented that Joe Biden has been known to speak out of turn. Of course the flip side of such a reputation is the ability to say things meant in earnest and then to simply laugh them off. On Sunday the Vice President told George Stephanopoulos that Israel has a sovereign right to decide how to deal with Iran’s nuclear ambitions whether the United States agrees or not.
His statements are beyond absurd, more worthy of a Dick Cheney or of Genghis Kahn. The (…) -
We have now 3 areas of western led "revolutions": Iran, Urumqi and Honduras. The CIA is behind everything
8 July 2009We have now 3 areas of western led "revolutions": Iran, Urumqi and Honduras.
All I can say is: The CIA is behind everything!!!
The "Tibeten issue" really did`nt matter much as the Xinjang issue will cause much problems for China. The West wants to "hurt China real bad" but without any diect consequence to themselves.
First by encouraging "dissent and roiting" leading to mass demonstrations and killings of innocent people and further exploitation of the problems the west has already got (…) -
Video: When is a Coup Not a Coup?
8 July 2009A surreal event took place on July 7, 2009, at the National Press Club, in Washington, D.C. It was so strange that I thought that the late, great British comedic actor, Peter Sellers, was going to make a cameo appearance! Some of the representatives of the “de facto” regime in Honduras, repeatedly denied that President Manuel Zelaya was overthrown in a military coup on June 28, 2009. At the beginning of the press conference, protesters staged a brief demonstration. On this video, you will (…)
