Egyptian workers wage ’biggest struggle since British rule’
By G. Dunkel

A workers’ movement in Egypt that disdains the official trade union is building its own independent organizations and is confident enough of its strength that it recently attempted a general strike. Faced with a wave of strikes that are growing larger and more intense, the U.S.-backed regime of President Hosni Mubarak has responded with concessions for some workers and repression (…)

Let’s get this straight, 60 Minutes lies and the Ray Gun kills: the truth about the Active Denial System
9 June 2008The following is a CBS 60 Minutes segment on Pentagon’s latest torture weapon, a heat wave gun referred to as the Active Denial System (ADS).
Either the producers of this propaganda video, disguised as news, blatantly lied to the American public, or they are completely incompetent. I would like to rip this video apart and analysis it piece-by-piece but I will refrain from doing so and will try to remain focused on the main topic.
ADS, the Ray Gun, is a lethal weapon. As Dave Gaubatz, (…) -
Vote no to the Lisbon treaty
9 June 2008The Workers Solidarity Movement are printing and distributing 50,000 of the following leaflets in our campaign for a ’No’ vote on the referendum on the Lisbon Treaty.
>> Lisbon - So What’s It All About Then?
Over recent months, there’s been endless talk about the Lisbon Treaty. Most political parties advise us that we’ll be embarrassed and economically ruined if we don’t vote ‘Yes’. Groups advocating a ‘No’ vote tell us that we will lose our democracy and sovereignty if we do vote ‘Yes’. (…) -

isms and archys
8 June 2008I’ve been mulling over the concept of ’isms’. Communism, socialism, fascism, capitalism. Oligarchy, monarchy, you get the idea. It seems depending on who you ask, somebody somewhere will always have a problem with any major ism you bring up. There is plenty to criticize with capitalism, particularly in the form we have it now. It is wholly unethical no-holds barred cutthroat capitalism, not much different in practice than crime. That goes without saying for all of the archys too.
I’ll (…) -
The Money System In a Nutshell: How the Rich get Richer and Why We Never Do
8 June 2008Wealth is forever. In case you’ve never thought about it, it’s true, once it’s created it’s forever. All you have to do is hold onto it. That’s something I realized a while back when I started analyzing how our society is set up, and it’s set up to make the rich and powerful more rich and powerful by using us and taking our share of the wealth we create for themselves.
It’s about money, that green stuff that strangely doesn’t turn out to be anything at all. It has no inherent value, you (…) -
Intellectual Violence
8 June 2008By Angie Riedel 06/06/08 "ICH" — - Something I’ve learned over the last few years is that there really is such a thing as evil in this world. True, sheer evil.
I’ve also learned that all evil is perpetrated by force; and that can be physical violence or it can be intellectual violence, i.e. by deceit and deception. Lies. Lies are every bit as much a form of violence as guns, clubs and bombs because just like physical violence, lies are used to violate someone else’s free will and free (…) -

By JAE-SOON CHANG – 3 hours ago
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — Dozens were injured in the largest protest yet over an agreement to resume U.S. beef imports to South Korea, according to authorities and media reports Saturday.
