The struggle to separate oil and state needs to be fought at home and at key international events like the G-8 Summit that took place this past weekend in Saint-Petersburg, Russia. When the G-8 met in Scotland last year, global poverty and climate change headlined the agenda. This past weekend in Russia, “Energy Security” was a key issue, but last year’s priorities seemed to be pushed aside.

US vetoes UN ceasefire call
18 July 2006THE UN Security Council has again rejected pleas that it call for an immediate cease-fire between Israel and Lebanon after the United States objected, diplomats said overnight. Washington argued in closed-door talks that the focus for Middle East diplomacy for now should be on the weekend summit in St Petersburg of the Group of Eight industrialised nations, council diplomats said.
It was the sole member of the 15-nation UN body to oppose any council action at all at this time, they said. (…) -
How Many? (apologies to Bob Dylan)
17 July 2006How many buildings must be blown down before this war is done? and how many kids must die needlessly, victims of bomb or of gun? Yes, how many terrorists on BOTH sides will continue actions insane? The answer my friend is blowin’ in the wind... the answer is blowin’ in the wind. How many politicians will fight in any offensive they start? and how many rich kids go off to these wars we know...they don’t go (that is smart!) The wars on Iraq, the wars on Lebanon
17 July 2006In the last 3 decades, two major wars were raged against Iraq. The 1st war was on Jan 91 when Mr. Bush, the father, and allied forces organized that war to force the withdrawal of Iraqi army from Kuwait. At that time USA refused any negotiation with Iraq and insisted on war. In that war, the USA army targeted bridges, refineries, electric power stations, factories and other infrastructures instead of the Iraqi troops in Kuwait. When the Iraqi troops seized fire and started withdrawal, then (…)

Mamas, Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Soldiers
17 July 2006Mamas, Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Soldiers By Cindy Sheehan July 13, 2006 As of today, the War Department lists 2544 as the number of murdered troops in Iraq. Dozens of innocent Iraqis are being killed due to this war crime every day. More than 80 Iraqis were killed in Baghdad alone on July 9th: dozens of people just in one city on one day who would be alive if not for BushCo.
I don’t know what number Casey was. I have seen people say 614, I have seen people say 714. It doesn’t (…) -
The Stolen Election Of 2004. The Numbers Simply Do Not Add Up
17 July 2006The Stolen Election Of 2004 The Numbers Simply Do Not Add Up By Michael Parenti July 13, 2006 The 2004 presidential contest between Democratic challenger Senator John Kerry and the Republican incumbent, President Bush Jr., amounted to another stolen election. This has been well documented by such investigators as Rep. John Conyers, Mark Crispin Miller, Bob Fitrakis, Harvey Wasserman, Bev Harris, and others. Here is an overview of what they have reported, along with observations of my own. (…)
