A Palestinian living in a refugee camp in northern Gaza gives us his account of the current situation
Interviewed by Silvia Cattori, June 11, 2006
The voice that you hear below is that of a young Palestinian baker who voted for Hamas in the recent election, hoping they would be able to lighten the suffering of his people. We think that his account sincerely reflects the feelings of a large part of the population of Gaza and can help us to rethink our biased way of seeing the situation (…)

Cutting, fixing, healing
20 June 2006I have heard but one viable solution to the Iraq War Debacle, from the same source that has steadfastly offered thought out solutions to virtually all our country’s problems. Why on earth don’t we get behind the man? He IS our voice, near as I can tell.
:::::::: The boogey man is back! Killer Karl has through some Black Magic escaped what we thought was Patrick Fitzgerald’s crosshairs and instinct for bagging truth. Now on the loose, Killer Karl pounds his chest and roars: “See the (…) -
Classic Right Wing Responses
20 June 2006Someone (it wasn’t Elvis) once said "There are none so blind as those who will not see"
********************************
I have a really good Conservative friend who has a good mind except when it comes to politics, and then his mind tends to freeze, his eyes glaze and all reasoning goes out the window. Here, in nutshells, are some of his typical responses to assertions made by me againt the Bush administration.
Cheney is a war profiteer and has a terrible voting record in the Senate. (…) -
American Gods
20 June 2006American Gods By Anwaar Hussain June 19, 2006 Notwithstanding the fact that Aristotle said a long time back that “the gods too are fond of a joke," and there were no American gods then but now there are, we the hadjis of the world need to understand that, like all gods, the American gods too are fond of a joke. Notwithstanding the fact that the term “hadji” is used by American forces in Iraq as the word “gook” was for Vietnamese, to signify the subhuman scum of the earth, and that the (…)

Don’t Blame Canada
19 June 2006Don’t Blame Canada By Stephen Lautens June 16, 2006 In the past few weeks, I’ve heard some of the yapping social experts say something that really gets my blood boiling.
I heard it in reference to two recent incidents - the breaking up of an alleged terrorist plot and a sweep in Toronto that arrested a few truckloads of gang members.
What was it the enlightened commentators said that got my goat? When it was pointed out the people accused in each case were immigrants or ethnic (…) -
Telling Lies About Ahmadinejad
19 June 2006Telling Lies About Ahmadinejad Kurt Nimmo June 17, 2006
Buried in the Week in Review section of the New York Times is an admission that Iran’s president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad never said Israel should be "wiped off the map," a reference to a mistranslated phrase bandied about the corporate media over the last several weeks as an example of Iran’s intention to attack Israel, especially after it develops nukes, either next week or a decade out, depending on the level of fanaticism of the (…) -

19 June 2006"Wash Post" Obtains Shocking Memo from U.S. Embassy In Baghdad, Details Increasing Danger And Hardship By Greg Mitchell Published: June 18, 2006 6:20 PM ET
NEW YORK The Washington Post has obtained a cable, marked "sensitive," that it says show that just before President Bush left on a surprise trip last Monday to the Green Zone in Baghdad for an upbeat assessment of the situation there, "the U.S. Embassy in Iraq painted a starkly different portrait of increasing danger and hardship (…) -
Veterans Affairs Loses Records
19 June 2006Veterans Affairs Loses Records Analysis By Mike Hudson June 20, 2006 For nearly five years, we’ve heard ad nauseam about the stepped-up security that’s made America safer in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks. Security, security, security. It’s like a Bush administration mantra, repeated over and over again by Condi Rice, Donald Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney and Bush himself.
They even created the federal Department of Homeland Security.
So it was a little surprising to get a letter - as many (…) -
Rep. Murtha Speaks Truth To Power
19 June 2006Rep. Murtha Speaks Truth To Power By Bill Gallagher June 20, 2006 Detroit - At least the battle lines are drawn and clear. It’s Jack Murtha vs. Karl Rove. They are the front men who represent the moral and political choices the American people will make in the 2006 elections.
Pennsylvania congressman Murtha is an authentic and sincere man who knows the horrors of war firsthand. The former Marine put his own life at risk in Vietnam, where he was wounded and decorated. Murtha is calling (…)
