There’s A Way Around The Electoral College Conundrum By HENRY N. STAHL JR. 6/19/2006 Since the early 1800s, about 500 proposals to amend the Constitution in regard to the presidential election process have been put forth. Recent Gallup polls indicate that up to 75 percent of the American electorate is displeased with the Electoral College method of selecting our chief executive. With our president pontificating the world over about the importance of democratic elections, it seems rather (…)

Father’s Day Reflections on a Lost Son
18 June 2006Of all of the holidays a grieving father can be confronted with after the death of his child, Fathers’ Day is for me the most difficult.
My son Nick died in Iraq on May 7, 2004. He is buried next to my father, who had died just a year and a half before. That is not the way it’s supposed to be. I’m supposed to go somewhere between my father and my son. My mother is on the other side of my father, and my mother’s parents are nearby. My proud immigrant grandparents died first, then my parents (…) -
The Bush Hoards: Who voted for him in ’04..and WHY
18 June 2006I have been asked many times "Why did approximately 57 million Americans vote for George Bush in 2004?". I have just completed a long and thorough analysis on this subject and will now briefly reveal my conclusions. Accuracy +/- 3%.
33 Million were hard core Right Wing Evangelists who believe Bush is the son of God...or damned close to it.
10 Million are the wealthy elite who benefitted tremendously from the tax cuts. They include all the Wall Street crown, corporate CEOs and junior (…) -

Wall Street Journal Gives Hugo Chavez A Mixed Review
17 June 2006Wall Street Journal Gives Hugo Chavez A Mixed Review - by Stephen Lendman
In contrast to its one-sided stance on Hugo Chavez, the June 16 Wall Street Journal had an interesting article on US based activists in Boston, New York, San Diego, Miami, Cincinnati and other cities around the country forming Bolivarian Circles and other groups supporting the Chavez government. But it couldn’t do it without taking its usual swipe at the Venezuelan leader beginning with the front page article’s (…) -
