Click Here to Listen to "Not Ready to Make Nice"
Three years is a long time in geopolitics. In 2003 the Dixie Chicks were condemned as traitors in America after telling a London audience they were ashamed that their president came from Texas. Now the group’s angry new song addressing that controversy looks set to become a hit.
Not Ready to Make Nice, due to be released in May, refers to death threats the three Texans received after the Guardian reported how they had criticised George (…)

mass media expose’ by 2 Professors-Walt and Mearschimer,by Ted Lang
26 March 2006Israeli Lobby - The Report
By Ted Lang 3-25-6 "Mearsheimer and Walt’s paper leaves absolutely no doubt that Israel not only controls our entire government, our Pentagon, our foreign policy and our political parties, but our media as well." It’s all coming together so quickly now, but never should we even remotely consider relaxing our assault. In federal government circles, selection by upper management of a candidate to attend the senior management program offered to upwardly (…) -
Secret Societies & Occult Politics - Dream of the Sages
26 March 2006Secret Societies & Occult Politics Dream of the Sages
By Robert Richardson
To students of history, religion, or the occult, a pattern of individual names and esoteric movements appears on the canvas of time like a sudden flash of light, then just as quickly vanishes. A group of disparate people - sometimes famous, sometimes obscure, sometimes solitary, sometimes united, but always engaged in some amorphous activity - spontaneously surfaces. Just as suddenly their traces evaporate, (…) -
Delay claims , I lost my gun: Are MURDER charges next 4 hot tub tom?
25 March 2006Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay has lost his right to carry a concealed handgun in Texas, RAW STORY has learned.
A Texas website, Brazosriver, was the first (to the knowledge of RAW STORY) to post a judge’s order to suspend DeLay’s license. Under Texas law, indicted felons are not allowed to carry concealed handguns.
Attorneys for DeLay have appealed the order, and it will be heard by the Republican County Court at Law. There are no Democratic judges in the county, according to (…) -
Bush’s Requests for Iraqi Base Funding Make Some Wary of Extended Stay by Peter Spiegel
25 March 2006Published on Friday, March 24, 2006 by the Los Angeles Times
WASHINGTON - Even as military planners look to withdraw significant numbers of American troops from Iraq in the coming year, the Bush administration continues to request hundreds of millions of dollars for large bases there, raising concerns over whether they are intended as permanent sites for U.S. forces.
Questions on Capitol Hill about the future of the bases have been prompted by the new emergency spending bill for military (…) -
Anti-Empire Notes The Cuban Punching Bag By WILLIAM BLUM (COUNTERPUNCH)
25 March 2006March 22, 2006
The Committee to Protect Journalists, located in New York, calls itself "An Independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to defending press freedom worldwide". In December it issued a report that said that "China, Cuba, Eritrea, and Ethiopia are the world’s leading jailers of journalists in 2005".
On January 7 I sent them the following email:
"Dear People,
"I have a question concerning your report on imprisoned journalists. You write that you consider journalists (…) -
Israel’s Policy of Targeted Assassination No Immunity By MIKE WHITNEY (Couterpunch)
25 March 2006March 7, 2006
Gangland violence is making us safer.
That’s the message we hear today from Israel’s Defense Minister, Shaul Mofaz, who not only defended the practice of "targeted assassination" but threatened to use the controversial tactic against Palestine’s new Prime Minister-designate, Ismail Haniya.
"We will continue the targeted killings at this pace," Mofaz stated. "No one will be immune."
Mofaz’s comments were made in response to Israel’s air-strike against two Palestinian (…) -
Rest Easy, Bill Clinton Slobo Can’t Talk Any More By JEREMY SCAHILL (Counterpunch)
25 March 2006March 13, 2006
Slobodan Milosevic is characterized in the obituaries as the "Butcher of the Balkans." If that is the story you want to read about, please go to almost any other media outlet and read it again and again. Some are now suggesting that death is Milosevic’s final revenge, that he "ended up cheating history" by dying before judgment was passed. But the world has already passed judgment on Milosevic and what is being cheated by his death is history itself.
What the corporate (…) -
Iraq’s My Lai? US Troops Shooting Any Iraqi Who Moves By PATRICK COCKBURN
25 March 2006March 22, 2006
Arbil, Iraq.
The US military is investigating two incidents in which American soldiers killed at least 26 Iraqi civilians and then claimed that they were either guerrillas or had died in cross fire.
The growing evidence of retaliatory killings of unarmed Iraqi families, often including children, by US soldiers seemingly bent on punishing Iraqis after an attack, will spark comparisons with the massacre of Vietnamese villagers at My Lai in 1968.
US troops have been (…) -
I’ve got your "GOOD NEWS" right here, pal!
25 March 2006George Dubya Bush has been lambasting the press for not focusing on good news in our endless "war on terror", particularly in Iraq.
It’s high time we responded with some hopeful stories and became optimistic. Here are some examples of real progress I dug up just this week:
In Ramadi, 6 bodies were found two days ago, bound and gagged and dead. BUT...the good news is that they hadn’t been tortured!
7 new schools opened in just the last month, according to the Coalition assessments. That (…)
