Saturday, September 18, we are planning a “Wine and Art” fundraiser at 7 p.m. at 14 W. Downer Place, Suite 18 (two doors down from our headquarters), in Aurora.
We are gathering artwork and wine donations, but could always use more. The artwork can be pencil, watercolor, or paintings, and we accept all forms of art, even sculptures.

Thank-you, Thank-you, Thank-you
I want to thank all of my friends and supporters. I would like to extend special gratitude to Mark, Ellen, Nadia, and Alex.
I am so grateful to know that I am not alone in my quest to bring about the changes we so desperately need.
We will make affordable healthcare, job creation, and education priorities. These are my issues. These are our issues.
If you feel we can work together to bring these issues to the table, please continue to support our campaign. How?
Printing
We are producing stickers, baseball cards, yard signs and other campaign materials. We have distributed 8,000 baseball cards by hand, over 4,000 stickers, numerous buttons, 80 yard signs and hundreds of flyers and we need more. We anticipate printing expenses of $5,000 or more.
I would like to extend a special thank you to Steve and Mike Barr from The Print Factory, our union campaign printer.
Office expenses:
Our headquarters is open and utility bills are arriving. We would appreciate sponsors who can “sponsor” a month of phone bills/DSL (approximately $60/mo.), water cooler rental ($12/mo.), electricity ($60/mo.), rent ($100/mo.), and consumables (paper towels, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, and general office supplies). Please consider being a sponsor. All funds specifically earmarked for “bills” will be spent appropriately.
Notes from Springfield
Last week, I traveled with Mr. Wilfred Rivera, a law-student, to Springfield to meet with Democratic leaders and concerned citizens. We met with Mrs. Illinois, Mrs. Kendra Muhammad and spoke at length about combining our efforts to address “National Child Welfare Reform 2004.” We also secured the endorsement of Secretary of State Jesse White. At the Democratic breakfast and Governor’s Day Rally, Barack Obama, Senator Dick Durbin, Governor Blagojevich, and other party leaders expressed enthusiasm that a new day is dawning for the citizens of Illinois: a Democratic Day.
Chicago
Please make sure to listen to AM 780, WBBM on Sunday morning and evening. Christine Cegalis and I will be interviewed on Friday, by Craig Dellimore.
Also on Friday, I will be interviewed by Telemundo television.
You are crucial to this campaign
Please continue to tell your friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers about this campaign. Your contributions, whatever the amount, are always put to good use. Every day this campaign becomes more viable because of hardworking volunteers like you. We have only 70 days until the election, so we are kicking it into high gear. We are a grassroots movement, so your contributions of time, talents, funds, resources, and prayers are more valuable than you can imagine. Don’t wait. Make some time today to invest in our future.
Thank you,
Ruben
