En réponse à l’annonce télévisée du président Nixon d’envahir le Cambodge (30 avril 1970), les étudiants de la Kent State University, dans l’Ohio, organisèrent un week-end de manifestation anti-guerre. Jusqu’au lundi, le 4 mai 1970, où la Garde Nationale intervient pendant une paisible mobilisation. Elle ouvre le feu, elle tue 4 étudiants.
