DSM 1: Ray McGovern’s Opening Statement

 July 23rd the Head of British Intelligence tells Blair and cabinet in
a secret meeting that war was inevitable, the facts were being fixed
around the policy. One month later on August 27 Dick Cheney delivers a speech whose major point was a bald-faced lie.

"You Shall Know The Truth and The Truth Shall Set You Free. That’s the
scriptural verse chiseled into the marble at CIA Headquarters.

"Well, thanks to the Downing Street Minutes we now know the truth. And
the question for us is whether we have enough respect for the
Constitution, whether we have enough courage that we will pursue the
purveyors of consequential falsehood so that the truth can truly make
us free."

DSM 2: Why?

Rep. Jim Moran: "What was the real motivation for why we did go to war?"

Ray McGovern: O.I.L. - Oil, Israel, Logistics- just read the NeoCons own literature.

"[Pappy] Bush’s National Security Advisor Brent Scowcroft has described
the President as being mesmerized by Ariel Sharon who has our President
wrapped around his little finger. So what I’m saying here is Oil was a
major factor, Israel was another factor. I have to say that Israel is
something that’s not allowed to be brought up in polite conversation..."

"There is no international law blessing of pre-emption or prevention or
however you want to call it.... So we have a real problem if we sit
back and say, ’Oh, we have a new national security strategy it
pre-emption, it’s a little different from containment’ - well it’s a
lot different from containment- it’s illegal! We oughta make that point
to the American people and do what we can to change it."

In
searching the net for Rep Moran, I found dozens of sites with "a known
anti-semite like McGovern" ... what a bunch of hogwash. Criticize the
gov’t of Israel and you are a racist... hmmmn I can see that coming
into play for America real soon, criticize the US Gov’t and you’re a
communist? terrorist? anti-Christian devil-worshipper?

DSM 3: Rep. Maurice Hinchey, (D) NY

"This country in my opinion is facing one of the most critical moments
in our history. The idea that a President of the United States may have
mislead Congress and the American People with regard to war, is the
most flagrant example of bad leadership and irresponsibility and
corruption that one can imagine in a Democratic Republic such as ours.

"The fact that we’re in a tiny little room like this discussing one of
the most important issues before the American public, indicates how
irresponsible this Congress is. Under the Constitution the Congress of
the United States has a responsibility to oversee the executive branch,
and to make certain that the Executive Branch actions and activities
are wholly and completely consistent with the law, as written by the
Congress. This Congress has failed completely in it’s obligation to
oversee this administration.

"We do not have the checks and balances which are so critically
important to allowing this country to keep functioning properly."

DSM 4: Is The Memo a primary source?

Rep Nadler: "If the President foolishly deceived this country into war
that’s bad enough, if he deliberately did it that’s far worse."

Constitutional Lawyer John Bonifaz: The Head of Britain’s CIA briefed
Tony Blair and his cabinet- why would he lie to them in a top secret
meeting? This is worthy of a full investigation. This has not been
investigated.

DSM 5: America’s Intelligence Network

Rep. Hinchey: "So if this administration did what now seems apparent,
and in fact twisted and distorted the facts in order to accomplish a
policy which was set in place long before the attack on September 11th,
and sought to exploit the attack of September 11th in order carry out
that policy, ie the attack on Iraq..." and then blame the CIA.... what
is the status our current intelligence network?

[Former] CIA Analyst Ray McGovern: A corrupt system has allowed a
herd of career yes men to bubble to the top. "A thorough house cleaning
is required, because many of the good people have left."

DSM 6: Should we Stay or Should we Go?

Rep. Nadler: "We were told in the run up to war that there would be
fewer than 30,000 troops one year after the invasion, obviously that’s
not true" Would staying in Iraq another 5 years really help or will we
just end up with another 20,000 dead troops?

[Former] Ambassador Joe Wilson: "My suspicion is that you will have
sectarian violence for the forseeable future whether we’re there or
not. Being there we are blamed for whatever sectarian violence goes
on." as well as inspiring thousands more to hate America.

DSM 7: Congressional Coverup

Rep. Lofgren: "Those in charge of Congress are participating in a
coverup- and there’s really no other way to say it.... The People of
the United States own the Congress, not the lobbyists, not the special
interests- and I hope that the American People will call upon all of
their Representatives including the Republicans that are engaging in
this stonewall and coverup- to engage in an activity to discern the
truth."

John Bonifaz: "I look at these Downing Street Minutes as equivalent to
the revelation that there was a taping system in the Nixon Whitehouse."
Imagine if Congress’ response was, we don’t want to hear about it. "Of
course Congress had to ask for those tapes, and these Downing Street
Minutes require that Congress pursue these questions wherever they may
lead, including whether or not the President may have committed a high
crime."

DSM 8: "It’s Over for George W. Bush"

GSFP Mom Cindy Sheehan: It’s up to you to remind Congress what their
Constitutional Responsiblities are. Ask them to wash the blood off
their hands, Demand an Investigation into the lies of Bush & Co!

Rep. Maxine Waters: "Citizens, George W. Bush, your President is a
Liar!... Dick Cheney, the chief architect of the Big Lie, is not only a
liar but he is a thief! He is responsible for the no-bid contracts of
Halliburton, he is responsible for the fact that Halliburton has been
cheating the American Public, and he’s responsible for giving them a
big bonus for being thieves."
