Governments USA

Let’s face it, in just 2 1/2 years George Bush will begin constrution on his own Presidential Museum, and he’ll be desperately needing some main feature for the school children and "scholars" of future generations to study.

I suggest a feature length video, edited from TV coverage, designed to show our "noble" president in the very best light.

Just as we rewrote American history for the school kids in the past (many textbooks from the 30s and 40s remain essentially unchanged to this day!)...so too can Karl Rove and his team assemble a fine and patriotic visual extraveganza!

It will begin with early shots of George managing a baseball team in Texas, speaking to evangelists when aiding his dad’s campaign, and bragging about his "Texas miracle" (no matter that it was a farce!).

Then there will be shots of Bush’s triumph in 2000,replete with galas and dancing and promises to keep his government honest and compassionate and bipartisan. There will be a short shot of Al Gore meekly accepting defeat.

Then comes 9/11, with lots of gory scenes and Bush with the bullhorn nonsense. Then the attack on the Taliban (after all is WAS they who attacked US, wasn’t it?)..then the installation of Karzai and his promise to destroy the opium poppies.

After that there is the magnificent speech at the UN,a quick series of shots poking fun at France (Freedom Fries, Freedom Toast, etc), and then the Shock and Awe! We’ll see the US troops rolling into Baghdad, the toppling of the Saddam statue by angry (Chalabi) citizens who "spontaneously pulled it down, and then the Americanization of Iraq, with many shots from Fox TV’s achives of rebuilding schools, hospitals and infrastructure. For obvious reasons, abu Ghraib will not be mentioned.

Then the Mission Accomplished ceremony and the Lynch story of heroism by the Marines, the plastic turkey surprise visit by Bush with troops yelling "Hoo-RAH!", and subsequent venues in the US where Bush speaks to veterans, the DAR, the VFW and other screened audiences cheering and shouting!

Then we’ll hear exerpts from the 2005 State of the Union address with loud applause from all quarters.

All in all the children and less educated adults of the future should be able to find some amusement in this, Bush’s record of excellence.

  • Are we going to file this under "Documentary" or "Farce"? I heard that it will cost $300 million for the library. This would mean $150 million per book!
