Rape and murder inquiry is 5th in recent months
WASHINGTON, D.C. — (OfficialWire) — 07/02/06 — Listening to a popular radio talk-show yesterday, I heard the newsreader say (referring to a report of the rape and murder of an Iraqi woman and the murder of three members of her family):
"...and in what is yet another embarrassment for the U.S. Military..."
To be honest, I admit that I didn’t hear the rest of the story.
Embarrassment!?
Are Americans so accustomed to the illegal acts of their government, so desensitized to the war crimes perpetrated in their name, that they cannot see that America has become a nation lead by a president no better than the worse African war lord-they cannot see that the U.S. Military is literally running amok-torturing, raping and killing innocent people under the guise of the Bush administration’s bogus war on terror.
U.S. Military officials have reported that "they" are investigating whether Army soldiers raped a young Iraq woman in her home in the town of Mahmoudiyah, south of Baghdad in March and then killed her and three members of her family to cover up the crime. The woman’s body was burned after the killings.
What is needed is an independent, international investigation, into the war crimes of the American Military, followed by the arrest and criminal trial, in The Hague, of the entire Bush administration.
Unless and until the current U.S. government is brought to justice, the American people are culpable in these crimes and should be held accountable.

...the killing of Palestine people by a rogue nation like Israel is outrageous, but the U.S. Government is only "concerned". Moreover the American taxpayer subsidize the killing with 15 billion each year.

These soldiers who did these horrific crimes are NOT AMERICANS....I do not know what country they came from, but they definitely are NOT AMERICANS. We do not claim them, we do not want them to come here. They need to be put to death quietly, a bullet to the head style. We do not want these ugly criminals to come to our country....they should be eliminated, there is no way to salvage anyone who would do something this sick.

They ARE Americans and we must take responsibility for everything they do!!! Wishing them away is cowardly and will not solve the problem. Get us the hell out of Iraq, now!!!!!!!!

Wait just a darned minute! My RIGHT wing friend tells me that our military is the finest and most disciplined in history, and they have RULES against activities such as are described here.
Surely WE would never allow such acts to be committed? Our soldiers are all heroes (so the media tells me)

Yes. There are some in any organization that are an embarrassment. The US Coalition has their share, not just Americans are amoung the small percentage. The foreign insurgency is guillty of meriads of atrocities against the civilian population. Sure, there has been a handful of US Military personnel guilty, but, there are hundreds of thousands of forces that are not. Look at the whole picture. It is not the Coalition forces strapping bombs to their bodies and going to a Market Place for maximum destruction and death of innocents. Start condeming these acts so it breaks the insugents backs. The Iraqi people don’t want any foreigners in their country. Then maybe the US and other Forces would get the hell out of there and back to their families.

Right. Bring them home so they can rape, torutue and kill right here in the US. To paraphrase Shakespeare, a pig by any other name smells just as shittly.

The U.S. forces don’t have to strap bombs to their bodies; they have F-16’s and M-1’s and so on.
The base question remains, why did the U.S. invade Iraq?

"The Iraqi people don’t want any foreigners in their country."
Actually, I have spoken with several returning soldiers who say the majority of the Iraqi people are very grateful for whatever we can do for them. And our soldiers have worked on many projects, such as re-building schools and training Iraqi troops to defend themselves. The problem is with the media, who tend to report only the negative stories because "If it bleeds, it leads." Many of the atrocities committed in that country can be attributed to outside agitators who do not want the democracy to succeed, and it is their strategy to make it seem as if they speak for the people. They do not, any more than the actions of a few soldiers represent the sentiments of the American people. In fact, it would be more logical to consider the possibility that the rape and murders may have been carried out by agitators and blamed on Americans than to presume guilt before a proper investigation has been made.

That is sooooo much bullshit, the returning vets I talk to including a few minus their limbs have told me they were feared by most Iraqis and that the Iraqis clearly want us out of there. Anyone who tells you that the Iraqis are greatful is full of shit.

209-243, you said "... it would be more logical to consider the possibility that the rape and murders may have been carried out by agitators and blamed on Americans than to presume guilt before a proper investigation has been made."
Can you please explain why "it would be more logical" to think an agitator had done it? Isn’t the most logical thing to do to wait for "a proper investigation?"

I would consider the possibility of outside agitators, given their tactics, before I would presume our own troops guilty without the benefit of an investigation as it presently stands.
