GREEN PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE TO ADDRESS PUBLIC RALLY MONDAY AT OHIO STATEHOUSE AS PRESIDENTIAL ELECTORS CAST VOTES "UNDER A CLOUD OF SUSPICION".
Green Party presidential candidate David Cobb will address
recount volunteers, the public and protesters who will gather outside the
Ohio Statehouse in Columbus, on Monday, December 13, the day that
presidential electors meet in all state capitals to cast their votes. Cobb
will make his address at approximately12:15 p.m. on the High Street sidewalk
adjacent to the Capitol grounds.

The Cobb campaign is demanding recounts of the presidential vote
in Ohio and New Mexico. Several Ohio counties are expected to begin the
recount on Monday; others will begin on different days throughout the week.
New Mexico election officials are meeting on Monday to consider Cobb’s
recount demand in that state.

"It is absolutely outrageous and irresponsible for the Ohio
and New Mexico presidential electors to cast their votes when the outcome of
recounts are still unknown. Just as in Florida in 2000, we have to question
the integrity of our voting system and those partisan officials who are in
charge of it. With allegations of voter intimidation and suppression
looming, an impending Congressional investigation and the recounts just
beginning, the presidential electors will cast their votes under a cloud of
suspicion," said Cobb.

recount efforts in Ohio and New Mexico, see http://www.votecobb.org.

I found this blog at http://fairnessbybeckerman.blogspot.com/. It has tons of info. I’m unnerved by how silent Kerry is sitting on $50 million, while Greens struggle to raise $88k more.

(2) Update and Urgent Request for recount coordinators from PENNSYLVANIA, MICHIGAN, WISCONSIN, ILLINOIS AND WEST VIRGINIA. AND INDIANA from Green Recount Coordinator., Holly hhartus@yahoo.com

A.The Green party is demanding a FULL recount and the Democrats are not sure if they will make that request yet. They might be satisfied with a 3% hand count and let the rest run through the same faulty machines! The local Ohio Boards of Elections in different counties which makes the final decisions will get "cover" if the Democrats are satisfied with 3%. Tell the Dems what you think!

This is a message from the Green Recount Co-ordinator

WHAT YOU CAN DO At this time, we expect to be able to meet our volunteer needs with people in Ohio and nearby states, where volunteers can drive in. For those farther away, there is still a critical role to play. CURRENTLY, CALLS ARE GOING OUT TO VOLUNTEERS IN PENNSYLVANIA, MICHIGAN, WISCONSIN, ILLINOIS AND WEST VIRGINIA. AND INDIANA - WE DON’T HAVE A STATE COORDINATOR OR POINT OF CONTACT THERE, YET, SO IF SOMEONE IN INDIANA IS READING THIS AND WANTS TO STEP FORWARD, PLEASE WRITE ME OFF-LIST! If you live farther away and want to travel to Ohio, you are welcome to come, but we encourage you to travel by car, as we don’t have the means to provide extra transportation in Ohio. We are still looking for observers in a few counties; volunteers are also being sought for door-to-door canvassing to gather statements from people who encountered problems when trying to vote, or who learned their votes were not counted. IF YOU DECIDE TO TRAVEL TO OHIO, BUT HAVEN’T HEARD FROM SOMEONE IN YOUR STATE, YET, FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME OFF-LIST Holly - hhartus@yahoo.com

D. To volunteer for the Ohio Democrats monitoring of the Ohio recount see http://www.ohiodems.org/

They are supposed to have a special form up if you don’t see it and want to volunteer, fill out their regular volunteer form and write "interested in recount" in one of the sections where you can write this in.

E. The Ohio Democrats are raising funds to help pay for observing this recount. However, the Kerry campaign has already collected 50 million dollars for a recount. It is unclear at this point if this money will be used in Ohio or elsewhere to pay for recounts. You can try contacting the DNC and the Kerry Campaign to ask about why they aren’t giving the Ohio Dems this money for a recount!

Urge your Congressperson and Senators to Object to any Presidential Electors who have been unlawfully appointed!
The Lone Star Iconnoclast of Crawford, Texas, reports that congresspeople are being asked to sign an oath that ", in keeping with my oath of office, I publicly declare my intention to act on Jan. 6, 2005, and object to any presidential electors that I believe to have been unlawfully appointed. To do less would make me complicit with a violation of our shared democratic principles." I strongly urge you to write to your congressperson and senators and ask them to sign that oath. For the full text of the oath, see http://iconoclast-texas.com/News/s02.htm.

  • The Ohio recount is an utter waste of time. Its too bad the taxpayers have to help underwrite it. Maybe the Ohio legislature should consider making those who request a recount pay the entire cost.

    • First of all, the Ohio recount is NOT a waste of time.

In fact, VOTING is a waste of time if we cannot have confidence in our voting system. We are the only democracy in the WORLD that does not have a nationally uniform system for voting.

Ohio had thousands of problems - everything from computer glitches to intimidation to full-flrdged voter disenfranchisement and partisan supervisors.

Now, according to Ohio law, enough money was raised for the recount. It is ridiculous to say, after the fact, that the recount will cost more than what was raised.

Let’s just see what new info comes in as a result of this recount.
