    An anti-globalization activist who was sent back to France after arriving at an airport here accused the U.S. government Thursday of conspiring against his cause and trying to protect big business.
    Jose Bove, best known for ransacking a McDonald’s restaurant in France in 1999, arrived Wednesday at John F. Kennedy International Airport, planning to speak at an event sponsored by Cornell University, but was denied entry by customs officials.

    GOP congressman says his wife was also ordered to leave
    WASHINGTON Peace activist Cindy Sheehan was arrested Tuesday in the House gallery after refusing to cover up a T-shirt bearing an anti-war slogan before President Bush’s State of the Union address.
    According to a blog post on Michael Moore’s Web site attributed to Sheehan, the T-shirt said, "2,245 Dead. How many more?" — a reference to the number of U.S. troops killed in Iraq.

    I stopped for gas on my way home last night, inserting my credit card into the reader at the gas pump at the Exxon station on North Main Street in Floyd, Virginia. It cost just under $40 to fill the 19-gallon gas tank on my Jeep Wrangler.
