Iraqi Lawmakers Call for Foreign Troops to Withdraw
By AGENCE FRANCE-PRESSE, BAGHDAD June 21, 2005
Iraqi lawmakers from across the political spectrum called for the withdrawal of foreign forces from their country in a letter released to the media June 19.
The move comes as U.S. President George W. Bush is under increasing domestic pressure to set a timetable for the pullout of American forces in the face of an increasing death toll at the hands of insurgents.
Eighty-two Shiite, Kurdish, Sunni Arab, Christian and communist deputies made the call in a letter sent by Falah Hassan Shanshal of the United Iraqi Alliance (UIA), the largest group in parliament, to speaker Hajem al-Hassani.
Some of those who signed urged that a detailed timetable be established for the withdrawal.
There are currently about 160,000 foreign troops in Iraq, including a 138,000-strong U.S. force, which has borne the brunt of attacks against coalition forces.
In the letter, Shanshal said the 275-member parliament was the Iraqi people’s legitimate representative and guardian of their interests.
”We have asked in several sessions for occupation troops to withdraw,” the letter said. “Our request was ignored.”
”It is dangerous that the Iraqi government has asked the U.N. Security Council to prolong the stay of occupation forces without consulting representatives of the people who have the mandate for such a decision.
”Therefore we must reject the occupation’s legitimacy and renew our demand for these forces to withdraw,” the letter added.
The U.N. Security Council agreed on May 31 to extend the mandate of multinational forces in Iraq “until the completion of the political process” following a request from the Iraqi government.
”Iraqi security forces have managed to break the back of terrorist groups and maintain security in the streets of Iraq, and have gained the trust of Iraqi citizens to arrive at their final goal, total sovereignty for Iraq.”

The phony post war Iraqi government should keep distance on this murderous occupational force.

To Prissy Patriot: Do yourself a favor and change your moniker. A real patriot would never describe him or herself as ’prissy’, unless they are gluttons for verbal abuse. In that case "Masochistic Minuteman" would be more appropriate. Or how about "Vacillating Loyalist" or even "Anal-Retentive Homeland Protector". Yeah, now that’s something for you, Priss, ’Anal-retentive Homeland Protector’, one can make that handle into a hip-hop tune, I’m sure.

Thanks for your comment- However,I wasn’t looking for suggestions regarding my "pen name"- since you are handing them out- I ’ll give you one too.
I suggest you investigate your dictionary for the meaning of the word "prissy" as well as "patriot". Webster’s for instance: prissy-Very prim or PRECISE....
As for "patriot", you don’t know me well enough to make that determination.
Precisely,
Prissy Patriot

I’m not American so Websters is not my dictionary of choice, but as English is my first language I thought most English speakers would know that prissy could also mean precise.
I have found your other articles have reflected both the first and last part of your pen name.
So that’s my little bit of crowing on that topic.
Patriots or "dissidents challenging established power must achieve far higher standards of evidence and argument than mainstream writers because they are guaranteed to be targeted for fierce attacks" -Noam Chomsky.
You have done your homework on this subject. There is virtually an unlimited numbers of examples which could be added to your article. Orwell’s ghost haunts or delights the White House, The State Dept, The Military and most of the MSM. GWG has probably not heard of this other George, but was able to hang in there with My Pet Goat, perhaps Animal Farm might be next.
cheers, jt.

From Wordreference.com we have a definition for the word ’prissy’ that is far more complete than the one you quote from Webster’s: "finicky and precise, excessively fastidious (my personal favorite), easily disgusted, squeamish, exhibiting prudish behavior, straightlaced and proper to an extreme, puritanical". These terms come more readily to the mind of the general public when the adjective ’prissy’ is mentioned, more so than the terms ’prim and precise’. Also, Merriam-Webster On-line cites in their etymology section that the origin of the word ’prissy’ more than likely came about through combining the words ’prim’ and ’sissy’ back in the 18th Century.
I gather you have no qualms being precise to the point of fasitidiousness, and neither do I.
Precision in thought is highly rated in engineering and in science, (without it there would be no successful science or engineering) and it well do well for our democracy if the general public would start using more precise language (an accurate reflection of one’s thinking) when engaging in political discussion. Asking for more precise language when we discuss political issues will be as easy as to expect more critical thinking in our discussions, that is, both are a remote possibilities at best.
Both the mainstream media and our political class would rather that we continue arguing amongst each other without a clue as to what and why we are arguing about; it makes their job of control and manipulation so much easier. Our democracy it appears is not as important as engineering or science.
I’m afraid that you misunderstood my humorous aside.
I was merely suggesting creating a new moniker that would not be such an easy target for the less enlightened, i.e. brutes and thugs, to use and aim against you. These cretins have no qualms in shooting you down when they think they’ve got you in their cross-hairs.
And as for ’patriot’, I believe that I know enough about you through your writings to say that you truly love your country and are not afraid to fight for the truth and our freedom. If that isn’t a patriot, I don’t know what is.

I’m afraid I did! Prissy can be quite a sass-but a Patriot,as you can tell.
Thank you for your terminology and your nice note.
As you can see, not too Prissy to try to dig out the truth of matters.
Cheers to you and thanks JT too :-)
