America Goes Dark
By PAUL KRUGMAN Published: August 8, 2010
The lights are going out all over America — literally. Colorado Springs has made headlines with its desperate attempt to save money by turning off a third of its streetlights, but similar things are either happening or being contemplated across the nation, from Philadelphia to Fresno.
Meanwhile, a country that once amazed the world with its visionary investments in transportation, from the Erie Canal to the Interstate Highway (…)

Sep 8th, 2009 | By Keelan Balderson
A lot of recent headlines in the mainstream press have discussed the vast amount of poppy fields in Afghanistan that are under Taliban control. The assertion is that these fields which produce ingredients used in opium and heroin production are being cultivated by the Taliban to fund their various terrorist operations.[1]
It is a fact that Afghanistan had a 95% monopoly over the world’s opium (…) -

Amnesty International says New Zealand’s new aid policy is sending the wrong message to the Pacific.
The group’s Pacific researcher Apolosi Bose says the Vanuatu Women’s Centre is one NGO facing difficulties under New Zealand’s change of direction.

Australia’s post-Coup, pro-war, pro-coal, pro-gas, pro-Zionist Labor PM Julia Gillard appeared in a stultifying episode of the TV Question and Answer TV program "Q&A" but 50 Elephant in the Room questions (listed below) were not put - the unspoken narrative of the current election campaign in Murdochracy and Lobbycracy Australia (right wing Libs versus right wing Labs, with the anti-war, pro-environment Greens hoping for 15% of the vote) is "Don’t mention the war".

A call to the President of the United States
A few days ago, an article was published that really contained many facts related to the oil spill that occurred 105 days ago.
President Obama had authorized the drilling of that well, trusting in the capacity of modern technology to produce oil, which he wished to make abundantly available, thus freeing the United States from its dependence on foreign supplies of that product vital to current civilization. Its excessive consumption of oil had (…) -

REFLECTIONS ON THE MILITARY/INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX

How Big is Huge? A little different subject for this article - still economics - but one that will probably have sufficient material in it to irritate almost everyone. In the interest of full disclosure, I am a Navy veteran, served in destroyers of the Atlantic Fleet as an Electronic and Fire Control Technician working out of Norfolk, VA., to the Med, N. "White Power USA": The Crisis of Race in America

The inauguration of President Barack Obama was hailed as a turning point in US race relations. The country was said to be entering a new era of post-racial politics, on the path to a future of greater diversity and tolerance. But while crowds flocked to Washington to witness the swearing in, others were refusing to join the party.
Racially motivated threats against Obama rose to new heights in the first months of his presidency, (…) -
Zbigniew Brzezinski, Obama’s geopolitical engineer.

Has always been believed that AIPAC and the hawks in the Pentagon acted as a shadow government in Washington, distort policy in terms of Israeli interests rather than the U.S., but the reality is that the Pro-Israeli lobby has real weight in the areas of power, but only because the U.S. and Israel share the same geopolitical interests.
However, at this time we would see a conflict of interest between the two sides, due to the new geopolitical concept prevailing in the Obama Administration, (…)
